Chicago's big shoulders are getting thin when it comes to conventions. The SPI plastics show and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society have said "NAY" to the Windy City.
Come on toddlin' town...the disappearance of the 2016 Olympic bid, high taxes, and Chicago's crime factor are probably contributors to Orlando and Las Vegas's denial. These cities have stolen two huge conventions from Chicago.
The Chicago Tribune reported Mayor Daley saying, "the trade show's decision to leave is "a very serious loss." Daley called on unions and others working at the convention center to make changes to fee structures and onerous work rules so Chicago can compete with other cities for major trade shows.
The mayor has to get his hands back on the city by making sure deals like these remain, or else other conventions will vanish to 4th and 5th choice cities with more amenable accoutrements.

Between the parking boot, school children getting shot and getting car jacked I think these planners of the conventions took out their barometers and deemed the atmosphere charged with too much negativity to bother.

Too bad they would not let non-union companies bid for the jobs!
