Garrard criticizes President's phone call

He's smooth, but the President of the United States shouldn't call a beat cop in Cambridge over a humbug. Click the video for my full commentary on a president picking and choosing local issues. When Obama becomes this vocal on violence in Chicago, then and only then can we dialogue.

I am 75 years old and I have NEVER heard of a president stepping rawly into a local situation and placing pressure on the local law enforcement. The federal branch of this government cannot run municipalities. He does not have that power - it was not provided to him in the Constitution. Furthermore, even if he did have that power, President Obama was not there when the police acted in this situation and he had no right to call their actions "stupid" until he was made aware of all of the evidence available. Our president in this case was quick to judge and stepped on his tongue. He is an attorney and should know better. The president has enough to be concerned about right now without allowing himself to become distracted with local issues in which he has NO power to act. He needs to maintain his attention in matters for which he was elected by the public to handle so that at least one job can be accomplished in this country.
