I'm sure most of the internet has already seen several videos from this incident at the Semi Precious Weapons show, but this on stage POV cracked me up the most thanks to the gentleman at 00:47 who relished his chance of a lifetime to cradle Lady Gaga in his arms.
Culling together some of the most outlandish and ridiculous posts on Craigslist then making a short film about it, now that's a great idea.
L.A. Based Scratchframe, a film production group comprised of some of my good friends and fellow Alum's of Columbia College Chicago, have debuted a new web series entitled Craigslist Masterpiece Theatre™, in which every episode of the series is based on a real ad from Craigslist.

After reading and watching Marcus Leshock's post about the Back to the Future cast reunion I've been jonesing to watch the trilogy again. The ever so talented Eclectic Method has also bought into the BTTF nostalgia creating another one of their masterful works of art. I'd have to say that it's one of their best.
If there is one tradition that consistently holds true for me on Superbowl Sunday, it's eating delicious food. The fabulous Amy Guth gives a crash course in making what appears to be a simple, yet mouth watering jambalaya. It seems like it would be the perfect compliment to the Superbowl, Puppybowl and whatever other bowl you are planning on watching tonight.
To celebrate, here is the Groundhog Day trailer brilliantly recut by YouTuber DirtyEpic129 to be a depressing drama to the tune of Requiem for a Dream.
If you are looking to start up your own news broadcast, let this brilliant video be your guide as you learn the proper format for broadcast news, courtesy of "News Wipe, London."
I've been back and forth about wanting to do this. After watching a few of these videos pop up on the internet over the past week, I've decided that I'm cold enough during the 5-10 minutes of walking out of my apartment onto the bus. Polar Bear Club member Matthew Eckford, provides us with his first hand account his dip into the frozen waters of Lake Michigan.
Air temp approximately: 12ºF
Water temp approximately: 34ºF
Eclectic Method catches the holiday spirit and releases a face-meltingly-awesome Christmas remix. If you need a break from eating and/or other holiday festivities, check it out and enjoy!
Local film colorist Jeff Altman who inherited a bunch of 16mm film from his grandparents, delights us all with yet another charming moment from the 1950's through his grandfathers masterful cinematography using the now extinct, Kodachrome film stock.
Oh the fun families had before the internet and smart phones. Playing with toy cars, ring around the rosie, and shining really bright lights in the children's eyes.
A twentysomething man of industry. Filmmaker and animator.

You and your family dig a 40 ft. fir out of the ground with your bare hands and after you trim it by way of chainsaw, you realize that you made the mistake of uprooting a tree that is a "wee" too big and tall.
Alan Del Rio Ortiz shares a well produced short in the vein of a Good-natured mid 90's TGIF sitcom. Watch as The Girls' Guide to Rocking helps a young band in work out their differences. Enjoy some pretty excellent vistas of some of the more gritty areas of Chicago along the way.
Looking to cook and eat that perfect Turkey this Thanksgiving? Here are some helpful tips from Adam McLaughlin at Animaltrash, to help make that dream come to fruition.
From what I gather, this video seems to be a part in a series of heroic battles for love with lightning, magic, swards, super powers, accents, tigers and metal. I have no idea what it really is or why it exists, but it certainly brought a glimmer of shine and epic triumph to Friday.
I present to you "Lady" written and produced by Lionel Richie, as made famous by American country and pop music singer Kenny Rogers, covered karaoke style by a wistful bearded man.
Recalling a previous blog entry, Disneyland 1956 Jeff Altman, a film colorist at a local Chicago production house, inherited a bunch of 16mm Kodachrome film shot in the late 50's by his grandparents.
Another glorious gem uncovered and wonderfully transferred by Jeff of his grandfather visiting San Francisco in 1958.
No, I'm not talking about the weather, not just yet at least.
This past summer, the Chicago group Urban Pranksters took it upon themselves to bring the magic of the now famous Grand Central Station Freeze by Improv Everywhere, to Millennium park. A group of about 50 people gathered at The Bean to perform a freeze at 12 and 1p.m. and royally confused innocent onlookers. Hilarious and awesome.
The video itself is not so great, but you get the picture.
Vimeo user Songseed was fortunate enough to be cruising around Humboldt Park at the exact same time a truly pimped ride with fully extended hydraulics was on patrol. The pure essence of it was tighter than Xzibits cornrows.
Comes from a staffer ChicagoNow, Yvette Quintanar! A true masterpiece to say the least. All the best to Yvette and Sergio on their 2 year wedding anniversary!
Dustin Hostetler, a poor soul who was driving to Toledo from Chicago, decided to destroy his own mind by listening to a broken twitching to death radio station in Indiana. I think his words explain it best:
"driving through indiana on my way to toledo from chicago, i chanced upon a broken radio station. i listened for over a 1/2 hour, in hopes someone would come on the air and explain what happened. i slowly went insane. "and find a production?" "and find redemption?" what was the man saying?"
Is it saying:
and find a production
and find redemption
and final reduction
and finite reduction
Who knows for sure?
If you feel like trying to take a stab at what the station is saying, do note that you will not be able to un-hear what you are about to hear.
Local Film Production Company, Beverly Ridge Pictures is set do debut their much anticipated feature film, Chicago Overcoat this weekend at the Chicago International Film Festival.
Chicago Overcoat is a gangster crime drama, shot 100% in Chicago and stars Frank Vincent, Kathrine Narducci, Mike Starr, Stacy Keach, and Armand Assante.
Here is a quick synopsis of the film
The Chicago Outfit was the most powerful organized crime syndicate of the 20th century, and Lou Marazano (Frank Vincent) was their deadliest hit man. Twenty years after his most notorious wave of hits, Lou is a relic. His legend obscured, his talents forgotten. His glory days over. When a high-profile union representative is arrested for tax fraud, the Outfit's top boss (Armand Assante) orders a string of key witnesses silenced before the government can uncover a vast conspiracy involving police officers, city officials, and mob affiliates.
When Lou finds out about the job, he sees an opportunity to finance his retirement and leave Chicago with his girlfriend (Kathrine Narducci). But when relentless detectives (Danny Goldring & Stacy Keach) begin nipping at his heels, and the acting street boss (Mike Starr) decides to revoke Lou's membership to the Outfit, Lou must prove he is worthy of being the Outfit's most deadly hit man - a title he held more than twenty years ago.

One of the staffers on Vimeo created this challenge for Star Wars fans all over the planet to join "forces" and recreate the first Star Wars film (not episode I, episode IV...silly).
Here is how it works, on starwarsuncut.com the entire film has been divided into 15-second clips. Each filmmaker may then claim any clip to re-create, re-upload and watch on with smiles stretched across their face from here to the Forest Moon of Endor, as their work is stitched together with all the other clips from around the globe to re-create one of the most epic nerdgasms of all time.
Fall is in the air and what better way to welcome Chicago to my favorite weather month than sharing Jim Newberry's clips from the Thriller Zombie Walk in Wicker Park, on July 25th, 2009. It was sort of Halloween in the summer but without the changing leaves and the cool, crisp breeze of October.
It was fun, gorgeous Colorado vistas, excellent food and pretty okay dancing (they played three Sean Paul songs in a row -- not very wise). However, I feel it was missing one major piece.
I believe that every wedding should be required by law that a huge musical number is performed by the wedding party and is recorded for the internet to enjoy. If you don't, then you aren't really married.
The video below will demonstrate exactly what I'm talking about.
Chicago Dance Crash is doing something I approve of. They have created an entirely new dance production based on ideas that were contributed by the masses of the internet.
I have to say that after attending opening night last Friday, most of those ideas were quite entertaining. I put together 10 5-second video clips from the show to share with everyone.
If you're looking for something to do this weekend, I'd recommend checking out The Drawing Board.
I think Uncle Rico's quote from Napoleon Dynamite put it best, "Don't you ever wish you could go back."
Remember when it was easy to be a Chicago sports fan? When we had a team that went 72-10 in a single season. Think about that, those Bulls played 82 games and only lost 10 times. 10 TIMES!! Those were the days.
On a side note: It's really stunning how far 3D graphics have come since 1996.
I stumbled upon one more of these 8-bit themed old school video game videos and just had to squeeze it in as an addendum to my previous post. Consider this the second bonus level.
This video was 1500 hours of work moving lego blocks and grabbing still images of them.
My buddy Andy and I had a mission to go shoot some pics and an impromptu cell phone video in front of the Family Matters house in Lincoln Park.
one cell phone video + another cell phone playing the theme song via youtube = mission accomplished
If you are quite enough when passing by you can hear the theme song and a voice saying, "...A Miller Boyett Production in association with Lorimar Television and distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution."
For some reason, Mango 1-Man Band decided it would be a good idea to dress as a pirate, record his audition for Pirates of the Caribbean 4 and upload it for the world to see.
Some questions might be running through your head right now like, "Are they even making a Pirates 4?" No. "So that pretty much means they aren't holding auditions for it, right?" Correct. "And how do you know he is from Chicago?" Says so in his Vimeo profile, so it must be true.
After watching his audition, I must ask the powers that be to now make Pirates of the Caribbean 4 and to PLEASE put this man as a leading role. Not only can he act, but he can dress a set. Notice the lantern, ship and map. I'm glad this video was made.
We had a unique opportunity to shoot, "The Ledge" experience on the Willis Tower Skydeck in Chicago (formerly Sears Tower). For those who are unfamiliar with The Ledge, it's basically a glass and steel platform that protrudes out of the tower for a unique 103 story view of the city below.
Our mission was to shoot The Ledge from all sides including some reverse shots outside, a task not for the Acrophobic.
Willing to do anything for the perfect shot, our fearless Director of Photography, Kevin Moss of local Chicago film production company Beverly Ridge Pictures and his First A.C., Hunter Whalen strapped into the towers window washing scaffold armed with the Red Camera One to capture some of the more breathtaking views of The Ledge itself.
This in itself provided most of our crew the opportunity to view the city of Chicago from the real Skydeck, the rooftop of the Willis Tower.
This video is a short chronicle of our experience.
and Marcus Leshock, Feature/Entertainment Reporter for WGN-TV, shares his best performance of the year (I didn't go but I certainly happen to agree, sorry Snoop):
