Kmart Not-So-Super Double Coupons

In the old days, we couponers used to have a lot of fun when Kmart's "Super Doubles" double coupons promotion rolled around. We'd gather up lots of $1 and $2 coupons for low-price products and bring home cartloads of free stuff.*

It was always a hassle, but in those days it was worth it. Then they started adding restrictions to the number of coupons you could use, and most of us dropped out.

Starting Sunday, Kmart will be offering double coupons for a week, but with even more new restrictions than the last few times. This time, they will only double coupons up to 99 cents. Since there aren't 99-cent coupons out there, this really means that the best you're going to get is a $1.50 discount off any given product, with a doubled $.75/1 coupon.

Once again, they're limiting it to five coupons per day, and you have to use that Kmart Shop Your Way Rewards Card so they can keep track.

Sorry, Kmart, but it would take a lot bigger incentive than that to get me to brave the crazy customers, understocked shelves and confused employees at my local store. If you're braver, the list of participating locations includes lots of Chicago stores.

P.S. If you live near the Tinley Park store, when you sign up for the rewards card you can get a coupon for free bread up to $1.99 every time you spend $35 on food.
