Before I get to today's grocery sale flyers, a note: Today's the last day for the General Mlls "spend $30, get $15" Catalina deal at Jewel-Osco. And the two new Catalina deals going on aren't nearly as good, so you'd be better off getting in today while the gettin's good.
(Catalina deals explained.)
The new Jewel Catalna offers:
1. Duncan Hines: Already started, runs through 11/30. Spend $10, get a $2 coupon good on your next order. I found out about this on a little ad from the Catalina machine. Pictured products are Duncan Hines cake and brownie mixes and frosting, Vlasic pickles, Open Pit bbq sauce and Log Cabin and Mrs. Butterworth "maple" syrups.
In the GM deal that ends today, you're getting 50% back in coupons, but with this one you're only getting 20% back. However, if you need to stock up on any of this stuff, there are coupons available: $1/2 cake or brownie mix 11/2 Smart Source, $.50/1 Log Cabin Sept. 28 All You magazine.
2. Spend $20, get $5, 11/12-11/18. This is in today's ad and the products listed, with card prices, are: Pillsbury brownie mix $1, Pillsbury cake mix or muffin mix $1, Pillsbury cookie mix $1.50 (pre-card $2.45), Pillsbury deluxe brownie mix $2 (pre-card $2.95), Smucker's ice cream toppings $1.50 (pre-card $2.65), Crisco cooking oil $3.29 (pre-card $5,39), Pillsbury Easy Frost $3.29, Hungry Jack mashed potatoes $2, Crisco shortening sticks $3.49 (pre-card $3.79), Eagle sweetened condensed milk $2 (pre-card $2.95), Pillsbury flour $2.50 (pre-card $3.25), Pillsbury quick bread mix or Hungry Jack pancake mix $2 (pre-card $2.45), Hungry Jack specialty potatoes $1.50 (pre-card $2.25), Cirsco spray $2.49 (pre-card $3.49), Crisco Extra Virgin Olive Oil $4.99 (pre-card $8.59), Dunkin Donuts coffee 11-12 oz. $6.99 (pre-card $8.79), Jif peanut butter $2.29 (pre-card $3.39), Hungry Jack 27.6 oz. syrup $3 (pre-card $4.35), Smuckers jam, jelly or preserves 12 oz. $2 (pre-card $2.95).
Since these Catalina deals calculate how much you spend with pre-card prices (something most Jewel employees either don't know or won't confirm), the best deals are the products with the biggest "spread" between the card price and the pre-card price. The olive oil looks like the best here, and it's also the only thing that really interests me (although how un-chic is it to have Crisco brand olive oil? lol).
There are a ton of coupons for these products in the 11/8 RedPlum: 25 cents off jam, 75 cents off Crisco olive oil, 55 cents off any Crisco, 55 cents off condensed milk and more.
Since I need oil and condensed milk, I might consider this transaction:
two bottles olive oil card price $4.99 x 2 = $9.98, pre-card $8.59 x 2 = $17.18
1 can sweetened condensed milk $2, pre-card $2.95
pre-card price: $20.13, card price $11.98
Use two $.55/1 Crisco Qs and one $.55/1 milk to get total down to $10.33
Get $5 back for a total cost of $5.33
