Details on the "Secret" General Mills Catalina at Jewel
You know how I made $5 on Halloween buying a dozen cartons of ice cream at Jewel? And then how I was bummed to realize I could have made $10 buying just 9 cartons?
Mashup Mom just pointed out that the good folks on the forum Couponers Wanted have ferreted out all the details on this "spend $30, get $15 in coupons" offer. In fact, they've posted a Google spreadsheet showing exactly what items are included. And they say that it triple stacks, meaning that you can buy $90 worth of stuff and get $45 worth of Catalina coupons. That is such a time saver!
This new General Mills/Unilver deal includes a lot of the same products as the last one, like Progresso soup, Yo-Plus and (one thing I probably won't be buying) Pillsbury rolls. The Catalina offer for $4 if you buy 6 rolls of Pillsbury dough just ended yesterday, I believe.
I'm happy to see that Yoplait Delights, their new yogurt product, is included. I don't know how its different from their regular yogurt, but I have a lot of coupons for it so I'm game to try it. I was, however, dismayed to learn while watching Bonnie Hunt this afternoon that a regular-sized container of Yoplait has more sugar than a Kit-Kat bar! In that spirit, I was glad to note that the 32-oz. cartons, Plain flavor with no added sugar, are also included. Some moms I know mix the flavored stuff half-and-half with the plain so it's not so sugary, and that's not a bad idea.
I have no idea what the prices are on anything, but as with all Catalina deals at Jewel, the spending requirement is based on the pre-card price. I did $90 worth of deals today & they all worked! I got 8 Yoplait Delights (free after coupons & catalinas), 11 cartons of Progresso broth (free after coupons & cats), and 15 Lipton soup mixes (free after cats, no coupons). All free! My total was $4.18 (after you figure in the cats), and that was for a bunch of Halloween clearance stuff, including a princess dress up dress set for $3 (Christmas present!). I am so proud of myself... this is the most i've saved yet!

I tried to work this deal last night using some Cats that were expiring, and I borked it up. Someone had cleaned out all the broth and I managed to buy the wrong flavors of soup. Much as I approve of how much others save, it's a kick in the teeth to arrive at the store and find that I can't get 4 boxes of broth because someone else bought 21 of them and cleaned out the store.
I need to try to return some of what I bought today, but I'm not sure they'll let me return food bought with a Catalina. At least I can return 2 jars of peanut butter since I paid $5 out of pocket.
