OK, this week I totally would have set aside at least half my $80 grocery budget toward the $400 of meat in our freezer, but ... we went to Woodman's in Kenosha. We ended up going over budget with $92 spending, but we are so stocked up that I think we can mostly skip shopping this coming week.
I spent $55 at Woodman's on organic produce, 6 cartons organic free-range chicken broth on sale @ $2.50 each, and a bunch of organic jam on sale. I love that place! At Jewel I spent $25 on the $3 instant savings deal and a few other things. I also went to Dominick's for two packs of Smithfield bacon free after $3/1 coupons, and two gallons of milk for $4. Oh yeah -- I also got 5 apple juices and 5 six-packs of applesauce at Target for a total cost of $7.50 after gift cards.
Our week's menu was very easy, especially since we were out of town for the weekend and not eating any of our groceries.
Wednesday: andouille sausage pesto bake (from Dinners By Design; we were going to have this Tuersday but ended up going to a dinner @ school instead)
Thursday: nutty noodles with homemade bread
Friday: frozen pizza
Saturday: Burger King breakfast, lunch @ grandparents' house, dinner @ wedding
Sunday: abelskiver breakfast in Kenosha, dinner @ Steak & Shake (kids eat free!)
Monday: breakfast: oatmeal, raisins; lunch: macaroni and cheese, carrot sticks; snack: apple slices, peanut butter, cookies; dinner: kale in broth over bread with egg
Tuesday: breakfast: cereal; lunch: macaroni & cheese, yogurt, carrot sticks, Goldfish; dinner: gorgonzola steaks (the last Dinners By Design meal) potatoes, salad

I really heart Woodmans ... I shop at the one just off I-88 in Aurora. Also, I just done with a great trip to Walgreens and wanted to let you know the kid's activity book that has coupons in the front page is on clearance for $.50. Good deals to be had if you use those products ($1 on Huggies and you can use a MQ with that).

help, does Woodman's have a web site ?
Carrie Kirby said:
yes, i just updated the post to include the web site, but it is: http://www.woodmans-food.com/.
i love woodmans, and not just because it brings back memories of my college days in Madison. these days they carry a ton of organic, they have warehouselike prices without a membership, and they take coupons. also, they are employee owned.

Where was Smithfield $3.00? Was it a grand opening special? My Dominicks didn't have it on sale?
