Swim Diapers for Free or 89 Cents on Clearance at CVS

If you will have kids in diapers next summer, I advise you make time today to hit your local CVS and see if they have Huggies Little Swimmers clearanced to 89 cents. Mine did, and I got six 12-count packages.

If you have any Huggies coupons -- there are $1/1, $1.50/1 and many other denominations in circulation -- these should be free. You can print a $1.50/1 (hit the back button to print a second time) right now on Coupons.com.

It's normal for CVS to put its summer stuff on clearance for 90% off at this time of year, but I have never seen swim diapers included in that. But today, these $8.99 diapers rang up at 89 cents. Major coupon lady excitement here.

My cashier thought I wouldn't be able to use these coupons since they were for more than the cost of the package, but the store manager kindly intervened on my behalf and showed her how to reduce the coupons. I would have been able to use more coupons than I did, except that I had accidentally handed her my ExtraBucks at the bottom of my coupon stack, so that by the time she tried entering in the coupons, my total was already too low to accept them. The manger told her to void the whole transaction and start over, but since I had also purchased three huge bags of summer toys at 90% off, I offered to simply take back my coupons and pay the $2 I owed.

See, I can unclench my fist wide enough to let a few pennies slip out. Sometimes.

Another summer clearance tip for CVS: Since most of the clearanced toys are CVS brand, you should be able to use a $3/$10 CVS brand coupon if you recently got one from the coupon machine or on your register tape. And of course use a $4/$20 from the pharmacy coupon book!

I will try to get a picture up later today of the massive pile of summer stuff I brought home for $10 in ExtraBucks and $1.94 off a gift card.

Oh, and by the way, I had just gotten that gift card for returning some newborn sized diapers that I had forgotten about and that Toth is now too big for. It's a good thing to keep in mind: If you stockpile too many diapers, you can always ask the store where you bought them if they will take them back, even if you don't have the receipt anymore. My CVS said yes.

I'm heading out the door for the swim diapers. Just signed up our small fry for swimming lessons at the Y.
