This is the backup snowsuit I grabbed at the last minute in the $5 a bag sale. It's a Hanna Anderson size 80 and I don't know if Toth will even grow into it by spring. If not it'll probably do very well at the consignment shop.
It might seem silly to have so many different things for him, but it's a luxury I really appreciate since I don't really know in the first year what will fit him. And do I seem a little label obsessed? I have to admit that with children's clothes, I really have learned that the good labels are better. Kids' clothes get washed a lot, and nice things Hanna Anderson really hold their color and shape better through all that. Also, the really high-end thngs I will be able to resell when we're done with them, if my kids don't wreck them. Oh, and speaking of Hanna, here's what Toth will probably be wearing at Christmas. It retails for $68. Also in the bag sale: I got a few nice school clothes for Nutmeg, and Nutmeg also got to pick out things for herself in the bag sale. Just like last year, she found some nice things that I hadn't even seen. All in all, I spent $78. That was $65 in the volunteer sale, where I got most of Nutmeg's back-to-school wardrobe that I didn't already have (including a pair of nice gym shoes to keep at school and all the other shoes she'll need for winter, and a size 6 coat in case she grows out of her size 5 one). I spent $3 in the half-price sale for one of those J. J. Cole car seat covers (our old one was pink). The $10 was for two bags in the bag sale, which were full of Nutmeg's picks and a ton of baby clothes in addition to the snowsuits.Consignment Sale Steals
I was not at the top of my shopping game for this weekend's children's consignment sale -- I was late to the special sale they let us volunteers shop, and Toth in the sling was fussy, so I only picked up a few (very nice) things. And I was volunteering right up to the beginning of the "bag sale" at the very end so I didn't get to start shopping until my husband got there with the bag he bought for me. He was towards the end of the line, which means that much of the good loot had been grabbed by the time he got there and handed me my bag. And yet! When I got home and laid out my purchases, I found some really, really nice things that I had grabbed without even reading the labels. And what labels they are.

I'm expecting twins really any time now and have hit a few of the twins club resale events out here in the burbs. I have spent a total of about $200 and gotten an entire closet full of clothes which will hopefully last the winter. Among my best finds are lined Gap jeans, several pairs of fleece or corduroy overalls and dozens of footed pajamas, sleep sacks, rompers. I was able to find 2 complementary but not matching Gymboree Christmas outfits for the big splurge of $4 each. Our babies have way more clothes than I could imagine getting for our budget. And with buying 2 of everything the consignment sales are awesome. My husband was shocked when I told him we needed more baby hangers. We'd originally bought 100. I got 50 more and those are almost all used. Not bad for $200. I'm hoping they should be well dressed until spring when the next sales pop up.
