I'm up to my neck in a freelance writing deadline, but I did manage to walk the kids over to Jewel tonight for bacon to go with some lovely fat tomatoes my parents brought from their garden. And of course I tested out that Campbell's Catalina deal so I could report back here.
It worked Mmm, mmm good. Hee.
Yes, the "spend $15, get $5" offer works on pre-card prices. I bought 10 cans of soup for 12 cents each after the $5 Catalina coupon I received. Here's how it worked:
6 cans Campbell's Select @ $1.25 = $7.56 ($12.90 pre-card)
4 cans Campbell's tomato @ $0.50 = 2.00 ($ 3.00 pre-card)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
$9.56 ($15.90 pre-card)
MINUS COUPONS 1.40 (two $.50/2 Select Qs and one $.40/2)
2.00 (two $1/1 Campbell's printables)
--------
PAID $6.16, RECEIVED $5 Catalina, final = $1.16
And a coupon printed out for $1.50 off 6 Campbell's Select soups, meaning that when I am off deadline I can go back and do the deal again. It won't be quite as cheap because I don't have any more $1/1 printables -- so I'll pay 32 cents a can. Pretty steep, I guess. ;-)

The deal did NOT work for me at my Jewel just now...I bought 4 6oz bags Goldfish (precard $8) and 4 Select Harvest Soups (precard $7.80, not $8.60 as the flyer states) and no catalina! Still, with soup coupons it's still not a bad deal me. The printer was working since I received more coupons for soup. One of the cashiers knew about the pre-card catalina thing & said they have been telling corporate they need to fix the problem. Also said some stores have fixed the "problem" but others still calculate on pre-card price.

I have a hard time believing what the cashier said because I have heard it many times before, and yet these deals never change in my experience. I really doubt it could be changed on a store-by-store basis.
Are you sure the Goldfish you bought are included? In the add it says 6.6-8 oz, SELECTED VARIETIES.

Well, I picked them off the display that had many of the items from the flyer -- however if they messed up and put the wrong product on the shelf, that would explain the problem. The bags are 6.6 oz...maybe the "pretzel" fish weren't included? Ugh.
