Maybe Vapires are so popular because they represent how we play out our most persistent, unconscious acts. Let me tell you what I mean.

When we experience gut wrenching, can't-believe-it's-happening-to-me (especially-considering-how-conscious-and-what-a-generally-good-person-I-am) kind of season in life, sometimes it's hard to stay faithful to our chosen path and it's challenging to stay clear of life-sapping cynicism. However, there is a way that in such a season, you become a touch point for healing in the world.

The Gulf Crisis and a Call to Sacred Action

Yes! It has arrived. This is an organized movement that knows that we can respond to the Gulf crisis in a way that honors our role as caregivers for the earth and partners in spirit. Here is the call:

HOUMA, LA - JUNE 11: Fishermen speak with BP representatives concerning work in the clean-up effort at an open house community meeting for locals affected by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill on June 11, 2010 at the Houma Civic Center in Houma, Louisiana. Representatives from BP, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Wildlife and Fisheries met with residents to answer their questions and to register boat owners who want to work on the clean-up effort. U.S. government scientists today estimated that the flow rate of oil gushing out of a ruptured Gulf of Mexico oil may well be as high 40,000 barrels per day, doubling previous estimates. Environmentalists fear that thousands of birds and countless other wildlife are being affected by the spill. (Photo by Spencer Platt/Getty Images)

Teach Kids to Apply Their Differences

Don't call them "disordered" unless you really believe you are incredibly "ordered" and can clearly define what that means. Kids that are not fitting in, kids that live outside the realm of a tradition that has been set up to repeat the past rather than solve the current and future challenges, need to know they are different for a very good reason. They are here to address our oil spills and energy crises and abject poverty. And if they are the same as most of us, they - and we - won't live long enough to collect a proud, traditional paycheck.

Deadlines and Disappointment

When my editor asked "Are you a person who likes deadlines?" I thought, "What an odd question. How can life get done without deadlines? How does anything get accomplished without knowing exactly what is expected, when it is due, and who will be disappointed if it doesn't get done?"

Let's Have a Severe Thunderstorm

While it is prudent for the sake of future generations to keep reducing our carbon footprint and finding simpler ways to live, I believe there is an urgency in these days to clear out our personal pasts - to leave, release or burn old baggage, and arrive safely in present time. This 91 year old yoga instructor, (a link sent to me by the creative, Lynn Staudacher, who is an author, teacher and astrologer,) says it beautifully: "I don't think about age or how long I'm going to live. I want to live every moment...every morning...rise with the sun..."

What Does a Care Giver Really Care About?

One of my clients is a very generous person - always giving and taking care of others. Family, friends and strangers alike are on her A list. Sometimes it is so easy to be generous that she "over-gives" without a thought...until she needs help - which isn't often, because she's pretty self- sufficient. She wanted to know how come when she was needing that little bit of help, that sadly, it seemed unavailable.

Let's Create a Miracle around the Gulf Oil Spill

I can barely look at the BP logo or tune into reports on the Gulf Coast oil spill without feeling physically weak. Allowing myself to even contemplate the impact of this disaster feels like a really bad idea for achieving any kind of productivity in my day. But, then I thought about the power of the collective and was reminded by a friend of mine about the possibilities for miracles.

Some clients have had extraordinary experiences. Many have literally "seen the Light" - whether from: near death experiences; sacred places; serious accidents; during the "death watch" of a loved one;or just in meditation. So here's the question. Once you have experienced The Light, how does life change and who do you become as a result?
