SYRACUSE 37, NORTHWESTERN 34
Mike Kafka was nearly flawless. The senior quarterback was 35-of-42 for 390 yards passing with three touchdowns. But it was his one mistake, an interception with under two minutes remaining in a tied game, that proved most costly.
The Orange would kick a field goal as time expired and Pat Fitzgerald's Wildcats would fall to 2-1 on the season heading into Big Ten play. On a positive note, the performance by first year starter Kafka is a promising sign for a Northwestern team in search of playmakers.
Receivers Drake Dunsmore and Zeke Markshausen had big performances as well for the Wildcats.

Ugh, why are Northwestern's kickers always so horrible! Year after year. Sad.
