Cristal Connors is Goddess
We're just nuts over
Cristal Connors on Facebook. Someone created a profile based on the bisexual villain from the 1995 camp film "Showgirls" and does she get a lot of play on the social networking site.
Although Cristal's status updates often simply echo the classic lines from the film like "We're all whores darling." This virtual diva gives the character, portrayed by Gina Gershon a second life. Her status updates take the plot lines from the movie in new directions and have become a virtual form of "slash fiction." Cristal Connors returns to perform at the Stardust hotel, sabotages the other dancers and creates hilarious hi-jinks.
Her status updates have inspired others to create their own avatars as other characters from the film, and they all interact on each other's pages. With or without the film studio, Showgirls lives on.
If this continues, we may have to organize a Showgirls conference, GoddessCon. Maybe we could even get Gina Gershon who portrayed her the film to come and do a talk!
