Don't ask for an invite

We're moving into holiday party time. And, yes, it bites to be home alone watching "30 Rock" reruns on hulu, but sometimes you're just not invited to the party.

This may happen for a variety of reasons -- it may be budgetary, the host may be inviting work-only friends, or the host just doesn't like you. Or you insulted her wine selection at the last party.

Whatever it is, don't take it personally, and don't invite yourself -- it's just rude.

Whining on facebook, however, is just fine. If you look pathetic enough, someone just might invite you.
