Hi, everyone! Its time for the feature of this blog where I introduce you to an Almost Home Foundation dog who is looking for a family.
Today I had the pleasure of meeting a 5-year-old poodle mix named Bowser!
The first thing that I noticed about Bowser was that he was pink! Well, really, the pink was just his skin showing through his very, very short white hair. You see, Almost Home Foundation rescued Bowser from a high-kill shelter in Chicago. A lot of times in these shelters, since the dogs are meant to be put to sleep anyway, they receive very minimal care. Bowser's fur was so dirty and matted that it had to be almost completely shaved off, leaving him with just a little peach fuzz! But his fur will grow back nice and fluffy, like a regular poodle, soon. The next thing I noticed about Bowser was that he was staring at me! I was sitting near him, and every time I looked up, he'd be in front of me, gazing at me. When I said "hi" to him, he would gleefully plop himself down on his back, on my lap, and wait for a belly rub! Whenever I petted Bowser he would squirm and wiggle and stretch out as if he was just so blissful for the attention.
Bowser was like that with everyone. He was so happy to get hugs and pets and kisses. He got along great with the other dogs, too!
I can't imagine what happened to cause such a good, sweet poodle to end up on death row at the city pound! But it doesn't matter anymore. He's safe now, and he's waiting for a family that will do their best to never let that happen to them again.
When I wrote this blog entry, nothing had been added to Bowser's profile yet, but there might be something there now! Be sure to check it out. If you'd like to meet Bowser in person, email dogs@almosthomefoundation.org, or call 1- 630- 582-3738.
Also, some previous Dogs Of The Week, Droid, Hillary, Smidge and Bermuda, are still looking for homes. But Yvette is in the process of being adopted! So lets keep up the good work, and find homes for the rest of these great pups!
