Dog Of The Week: Yvette

I am an adult student studying special education at Roosevelt. I aso live with and care for my nieces and nephews. I get bored staying at home, so we're "on the go" most of the time!

Hi everyone! Its time for the feature of this blog where I introduce you to an Almost Home Foundation dog who is looking for a family! This week I'd like you to meet a cute little Shih Tzu named Yvette.

Four-year-old Yvette was rescued from a puppy mill. She was a breeder, used to produce litter after litter of puppies. The thing about puppy mill dogs is that they do not get much human contact, except to be yanked out of one cage and thrown into another cage with another dog to breed with. A lot of times when puppy mill dogs come to Almost Home Foundation, they are terrified of being touched! When you reach out to pet them, they have no clue what you're trying to do, because they've never experienced affection!

Surprisingly, this does not describe Yvette at all. She loves to be around people! This tiny dog loves people! I was sitting near her at the adoption show today, and Yvette came wandering over to sit on my lap! Other times, she'd walk over to me, look up at me with her cute little smooshy face, and put her paw on my leg, as if to say, "Hi, shouldn't you be petting me?"

Yvette loves other animals, too! She can be energetic and playful, but her foster mom says she doesn't really understand how to play. At the puppy mill, she never had the chance! She'll pounce around like a little puppy, but she's not quite sure what to do with toys. She wants someone to teach her, though!

Yvette is a great little doggie, and she really wants to be loved forever. If you think you're up to having a sweet Shih Tzu in your family, check out her profile page, and then contact Almost Home Foundation. You can email them at sharwropi@aol.com , or call them at 1- 630- 582-3738.

Now for some updates on the previous Dogs Of The Week... Hillary, Smidge and Bermuda are still looking for homes. But, thankfully, Parma, Treasure, and Ozzy have been adopted! So, thanks for all your help in finding homes for these great dogs!

I'm even "on the go" on the Internet! Look at all the sites where you can follow me!
