Dog Of The Week: Parma!

I am an adult student studying special education at Roosevelt. I aso live with and care for my nieces and nephews. I get bored staying at home, so we're "on the go" most of the time!

I've Been Adopted!

Thanks for your help!

Well, the Internet is working again at our house... just in time to bring you a brand new Dog Of The Week! Today's dog is a special one hand-picked by Little Bear herself. She went with me on Sunday to volunteer at Almost Home Foundation's adoptathon, and she fell in love with this beautiful pitbull named Parma.

A lot of people think that pitbulls are mean, scary dogs who will attack at any given time. But Little Bear has never heard that story, so she doesn't have any fear of big dogs. She loves them all! What Little Bear also didn't know is that the pitbull breed gets a bad rap because of a handful of pitbulls who were either trained to be mean, or not trained correctly. This is similar to how, if you have a child and then constantly beat him and verbally abuse him, or else just ignore him and leave him to his own devices. he will turn out much different than if you had lovingly raised him and taught him the rules of society.

Parma is a good example of a pitbull that doesn't have a mean bone in her body! To believe it, you'd have to see this four-year-old doggie being carried like a baby in the arms of her foster mother, a big smile on her face. You'd have to see her being gently playful with a nine-year-old Petsmart visitor, or accepting a huge hug from Little Bear. (Well, I can show you that one!)

If you feel like you're ready to meet a gentle, strong, loving dog, come meet Parma! Call the Almost Home Foundation at 1-630-582-3738, or email them at dogs@almosthomefoundation.org.

If Parma isn't your ideal pet, Droid, Ozzy, Smidge and Bermuda are still waiting for homes! But the good news is that Treasure has been adopted!

To try to attract attention at the adoptathon yesterday, Bermuda put on a pumpkin costume! But she's so skinny, a lot of people mistaked her for a carrot or corn on the cob!
