Crip the Mass!

Maybe you know about Critical Mass, a monthly gathering of bicyclists at Daley Plaza aimed to unite the community and remind folks in cars that folks on bikes also need room on the road. But did you know there will be another community of people on wheels joining the next Critical Mass? That's right: wheelchairs!
The Disability Studies Student Council at UIC has announced a call to wheelchair users to participate in this month's Critical Mass, scheduled for September 25 at 5pm. Crip the Mass! participants hope to remind everyone that in addition to bicyclists, folks using other modes of transportation (like wheelchairs and scooters) also command respect (and room) on the street.

If you want to participate, it's simple: just show up. Want to help organize? Touch base with the event's organizers through their Facebook event page. Don't use a wheelchair? Who cares! Come out on your bike and support the entire wheeled community. What a cool idea.
