Is it possible that liberal America--at least a part of it--is beginning to realize they got what they voted for?
In this great op-ed in the Tribune, syndicated columnist Rick Horowitz reminds Obama supporters that they argued during the campaign that the "real war" was in Afghanistan, not Iraq. That Bush's Iraq war made us "take our eyes off the ball." And that candidate Obama was making big noise about shifting the focus to where our military ought to be focusing: Afghanistan.
Now that Obama has decided to implement an Iraq-style surge there, some liberals are beside themselves, feeling betrayed.
Too bad. Can't have it both ways.

I told the liberals to vote for Ron Paul, but they all wanted to fight in Afghanistan.

Oh, Dennis, another cheap shot...I believe history will report that Bush WANTED to go to war...Obama surely doesn't (he remembers LBJ) but now feels compelled...the difference [too subtle for the critics?] is he's gambling on upping the ante to get out of the game, not to own the casino!!
Here's the way to always test a president's mettle: if the extremists on both sides disagree with him, then you know he must be doing something right. If you had been in my history classes at Loyola U you might have learned that. Ahh, another lost opportunity
