Al Sharpton wants the National Football League to block conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh from bidding on the St. Louis Rams.
The Associated Press reported that Sharpton sent a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday. He said Limbaugh has been divisive and "anti-NFL" in some of his comments.
I suppose Sharpton is referring to this from the AP: "In 2003, Limbaugh worked briefly on ESPN's NFL pregame show. He resigned after saying Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was overrated because the media wanted to see a black quarterback succeed." True or not, it's the man's opinion.
Kind of reminds me of the 1950s blacklisting. For those who attended public schools and think I'm referring to something racial, here's what blacklisting was: The exclusion of people from jobs because they are communists or communist sympathizers. The left appears to be as good at this game as the right.

I think there's just a slight difference between opposition to Limbaugh in the NFL and McCarthyism. It's one thing to hold someone responsible for his or her history of offensive remarks and actions: Limbaugh has, in fact, said the many racist, sexist and otherwise repugnant remarks of which he is accused. In the McCarthy Era, many who were blacklisted by extremists like yourself were not communists; but the mere suggestion that they were -- typically without any basis in fact -- destroyed their reputations and prevented them from getting or keeping jobs for years. Nice try, though.
