...Here we go again, hoping that Hendry gets LUCKY with who he gets in return. Miles? So what, it's about time Hendry affirms one of his bone headed moves and gets rid of him. Strange, Hendry signs Miles, he plays one year and then is traded. Same goes for Heillman and Gregg...anybody else seeing this pattern??? If these were productive players you would think they would hang around beyond one year. And Fox? He's gonna thrive in the American league as a DH? I truly hope so for his sake, yet Hendry didn't realize that Soriano or Bradley needed to reside in the American league as DH's?? DUH. I suppose the good that will come of this is a spot may free up now for Andres Blanco or Castro? But Gray and two prospect sure don't look like a center fielder, second baseman, starting pitcher or right fielder all of which are the needs to be addressed...but they weren't..so far...not to mention addressing dumping Bradley. Way to go Jim, nice job on re-stocking the farm system that you only use to evidently trade (Fox) for more farm system players. So no Fox to back up Lee or Ramirez, come off the bench as a good pinch hitter with power. Nothing like sitting back during the holiday season and watch Hendry work his mojo.

Hendry says there's no room at 3rd behind Rami... but haven't we recently pointed out that old boy can opt out of his contract after next year? And Aramiz was about as bad as Jake Fox defensively when he began his career. I just don't understand dumping this dude. He could have at least sweetened a package offered for a more important player.

Ehh, a decent bullpen arm and some specs.

Fox seemed like a decent guy, but the league really figured him out as the season went on. A (228/.285/.419/.704) line is not good. He did play a few positions, none even remotely adequate. He did provide a little pop, which is nice, but you really weren't gonna get a whole lot more for a 27 year old with no position.

Losing Miles, now that's a good thing that no one can debate.

*should have read "A SECOND HALF (228/.285/.419/.704) line is not good"

But that's based on HALF a season of baseball. Judge Derrek Lee by his April and you could say he should have been packaged in that trade as well.

Not to mention the second half of 2008.

Brilliant point. Apples, meet oranges

Derrek Lee has what is called a "track record". A history of success. Not merely a lucky 30 game stretch that lasted until pitchers realized he couldn't hit anything that isn't straight.

The soon to be 28 year old Jake Fox's track record consists of a .252/.305/.457/.761 career line. Not good.
How will they survive without that? And throw in his awful defense at multiple positions...they might as well forfiet next season.

You are right. The Cubs are doomed. They traded a career minor leaguer who can't get on base or catch the ball.

Think before you speak. Alls we ask. Thanks.

Allright maxpower you convinced me that trading Fox wasn't the most Godawful trade Hendry has ever made and I see your point about his career minor league numbers and being a career minor leauger, but maybe if he was drafted by an American leage team like he should have been he may have made it to the majors faster and not have been a "career" minor leaguer. You make sense and this isn't to argue with you just to point out that Hendry isn't even drafting properly? And Fox could have at least been useful in 2010. I still think this has more to do with dumping the embarrassing Miles than the "sake of Fox's career" as being claimed by Hendry in the papers. And I find it puzzling that Hendry is willing to pay gazillions of dollars to the likes of an "awful" defender in left field (Soriano) and another one in right field (Bradley) but when it comes to paying hardly anything (in comparison) for an "awful" defender like Fox with some offensive upside he chooses to trade him. Maybe he'll re-sign Jeromy Burnitz to back up Lee and play right field and pay him millions to do it...

Aaron Miles. If you match the production versus the amount he was paid dollar to dollar, you'll see that he will be the worst signing Hendry will ever make.

His three worst are probably all last year, then: Miles, Gregg and Bradley. Whether his career is a plus or minus may still be up for debate, but as of now, Hendry's completely lost it.

Hendry is supposed to be doing what's best for the team's chances of getting in the World Series and from the looks of most of his confounding moves he's not doing a good job AT ALL. And it's evident by all the comments posted that fans agree..Hendry really must go. Hendry seems perfectly content with having inferior fielding outfilelders on his team such as Soriano, Bradley and a long list of "outfielders of the day" (exception to Fukodome's defense) that have little to average offensive upside but when it comes to a possible replacement AT FIRST BASE (one of the most forgiving positons for defensively challenged players) when Lee exits he dismisses Fox out of hand. I don't get it, Fox would have made an average fielding firstbaseman and with his work ethic, attitude and PRACTICE could have turned himself into a good first baseman with very good run production. Hendry doesn't seem to look ahead as far as being prepared for injury or player departure. Frustrating beyond belief. This is the same old Hendry broken record.

Good that Miles is gone he was no good for the Cubs but Fox is to valuable to give away for nothing with all the problems the Cubs need 2 fill n the teams that want major league ready prospects they give him away for nobody really important
