Brian Urlacher Out For The Season

The news is just hitting the street that star linebacker Brian Urlacher is out for the season after suffering a wrist injury in Sunday night's loss to the Green Bay Packers. Urlacher dislocated his right wrist in the first quarter of the game and did not return.

The Chicago Tribune's Vaughn McClure received a text message from Urlacher saying that his season is over. Coach Lovie Smith is expected to confirm Urlacher's status at his Monday afternoon news conference at Halas Hall. His loss, combined with a knee injury suffered by fellow linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa that is expected to sideline him for 2-4 weeks could cripple the Bears defense.

The Bears are considering moving Lance Briggs to Urlacher's middle linebacker spot and signing the best available linebacker on the street. More to come later today. Kap

Unbelievable turn of events. The city is sky high with enthusiasm for the Bears after a disappointing baseball season on both sides of town. The morning after we have lost our star linebacker, another starting linebacker, and our QB looked awful. This team has to rally the troops and rally em' quickly because the World Champion Steelers are here on Sunday and then the Bears play at Seattle which will not be easy. Uh, oh....How many days until pitchers and catchers report?

Wait a minute! Urlacher texts a message? I thought he had a dislocated wrist. But it doesn't affect his Blackberrying. Butkis would be back in two weeks. Tape it up - get a shot - go back in. Urlacheer always was a poiser. No great loss.
