Julius Peppers

Lovie flew to Carolina yesterday and has brought Peppers back with him today. From all reports, Peppers should be a Bear. The Pats and Eagles are also still in play, if only cosmetically. But Adam Schefter just said on Sportscenter, "Barring a complete breakdown, Peppers will sign this afternoon."

Chester Taylor

Reports are surfacing that the Bears are willing to guarantee Chester Taylor $8 million (I know, I'm shocked too.) The reports must be serious because PFT is reporting that the Vikings are now fighting to keep the back in purple.

One thing must be stated. If these two deals happen, we all need to back off the "cheap McCaskey" label. These would be two terrific, expensive signings and our organization is finally showing a desire to do what is necessary to build a champion.

Sweet. Welcome to Chicago Manu, Julius and Chester ? Could this happen ? The McCaskeys lost their cheap tag when they signed Urlacher, Vasher, harris etc. but we'll see how this turns out. We'd still need a #1 WR, FS and a guard or two.

Of course the Bears tampered with Peppers, but I don't think they get into trouble unless the Panthers file a claim or something.

I just got back from teaching two classes and was hoping you guys would tell me the deal is done. Damn it! I'm tired of conjecture. But man, are these really my bears I'm watching right now.

Let me get this straight,

Our D has been in the bottom half of D's the last few years.

We have a franchise quarterback (through a trade no less).

The Bears are THE major players on day one of free Agency.

The Saints are the World Champions.

A black man with a Muslim name is the president of the United States. (please don't read racism into this. I'm just stating how nobody thought that day would come allright? Jebus.)

I'm guessing 2012 really will be the end.

Thats awesome. I was thinking the EXACT same thing regarding the fans (including myself) have to now STFU regarding cheapness...especially when you factor in the Cutler deal/extension.

I feel like this is Bizarro world or something...the Bears actually acting like a big market ballsy club....the world really is ending..2012 is a reality!!

The tampering charge is a hard one to prove up. The Redskins were exonerated for allegedly dealing w/ Haynesworth last year before FA. Even if the case was proven (which it won't be), we wouldn't have to worry about the penalty b/c we have no picks anyways.

If we want Marshall, and decide that the OL and FS positions are "pretty well set" - why not toss Olsen and Hester to the wolves for a 1st round pick... The two combined should do it, and as far as I can tell, we could do without them.
