There really is nothing interesting about the Bears v. Eagles game Sunday night if you're not intrigued by the playoff implications. So at the risk of continuing my admittedly-forced optimism, let me breakdown the NFC.

The Saints, Vikings and Cardinals are going to the postseason (and probably in that seeding order). The Cowboys, Eagles and Giants will jockey for the NFC East right to the end, but for the sake of argument let's say the Cowboys win the division.

That leaves two wildcard spots and seven teams in the hunt. Six of the 5-4's (Eagles, Falcons, Packers, Giants) and 4-5's (49ers, Panthers, Bears) square off this weekend, with the Panthers facing the Dolphins on Thursday night.

Here is the Week 11 Guide for the Straw Clingers
Miami @ Carolina - Thursday Night
You may think it's early but the idea is to eliminate teams from the running and a Miami win would do that to the Panthers, raising the volume on the Bill Cowher talk tremendously.

Atlanta @ New York
There are two ways to approach this game. (1) Let the Falcons run and hide with the top wildcard spot. The Bears lost the tiebreaker in Atlanta and chances of surpassing a club with two Tampas and a Buffalo left is a reach. (2) Let the G-Men jump up a game and hope they come back to the back with a very difficult six-game final stretch.

San Francisco @ Green Bay
A Green Bay victory wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, especially with them still on the schedule. But the Bears want this thing to be as jumbled as possible heading into the final six games. So root for the damn Niners.

So here's what you want in a perfect world. Bears over Eagles. Miami over Carolina. Niners over Packers. Thus either the Falcons would hold the top wildcard spot at 6-4, leaving the Packers, Niners, Giants, Bears and Eagles at 5-5. Or the Giants would be 6-4 with Atlanta sitting in the 5-5 pack.
I'd rather have Atlanta at 6-4, since they already own the tie-breaker over us that we can do nothing about.

The Haufbrau in Bozeman, Montana carries Old Style. Brings back my days in Chicago . . .

A quick response to the last post. We'd all like to see Hester back returning kicks and punts with the abandon he did for two years, but that ship has sailed. He's a receiver now and I personally would hate to see his development cut short because the Bears weren't patient enough. If this organization is unwilling to go out and get big time WR talent, we need speedy guys like Hester and Knox. They will get better.

As for the playoff scenarios, I'm excited. I don't trust this Bears team at all and right now it's hard to imagine them beating the Eagles, but if they do, this season will have new life. I can't wait for Sunday!

This game really doesn't mean much at all. Even if they win what does it mean? We can beat a sliding ball club with injuries to it's starting all pro RB and half it's defense. Wow. And essentially in order to have a really good shot at the playoffs we'd have to win out. Win out, that would mean beating the queens twice, GB, the Eagles, and the freakin Ravens. That is five games against tough defensive opponents, I mean we should beat the Rams and if there is a spot on the line and lovie can't get them ready to beat the LIONS for a spot then fuck it all. But even if we win 4 out of the other 5 it probably won't be good enough and 3 out of the 5 definately won't do.
Look at our only wins:
Pittsburgh - (when they were w/o their best Defensive player and missed two field goals)
Seattle - terrible team (still squeaked by)
Detroit - 2nd worst team
Cleveland - Worst team

we have 3 maybe 4 wins left in us this season, and that is not going to be enough to even silence the critics much less contend for a playoff spot. No way we go over 500 with this heartless bunch coached by gutless coaches.

Hahaha...

So the Bills contacted Shanahan and is a strong candidate to replace Jauron as head coach. I think we could kill two birds with one stone if we fired Lovie and scooped up Shanahan.

1. He could re-unite with Cutler

2. He can help the running game and develop Forte as he has done in the past with less talented RB's in Denver.

Do it Angelo! Just do it man, whatever the price!

Bears make the playoffs if we can keep it to one, perhaps two more losses. Cris Collinsworth famously said the Cards were the worst playoff team ever last year. They very nearly won the Super Bowl. They were one dimensional on offense and had a poor defense. We have a good defense - when they want to be - and we haven't just beaten poor teams - we stunned the Steelers and all the drunken sofas in the USA after our performance in Green Bay. Cutler has shown we can march down the field and score in two minutes when we're hot. So it's not like the playoffs would be disgraced by the presence of the Chicago Bears.

If the Niners and Falcons march on, our season is over no matter what. But here's the thing, the Niners don't have much of an offense, and the Falcons are starting their third string RB. If either slips up, and they will, we look to be in for a fair fight with the others, who are generally a game ahead. It ain't over til the fat b*tch goes Whitney......

Our schedule : PHI, @MIN, STL, GB, @BAL, MIN, @DET. If we can win all our games barring the Vikes game in the dome, we are in the playoffs.

Probable division champs :

Saints / Vikings. Dallas ?

Arizona - running game is getting up to full steam. Air Warner. Best receiving corps in the NFL. Rejuvenated defense. Kicked the living **** out of us and Warner throws five cherries. Good team. Easy Schedule : STL twice, GB, TEN, MIN, DET, SF. Champs.

Regarding our wild card opponents :

Atlanta - have us in a tie. still to play the @NYG, TB, PHI, NO, @NYJ, BUF, @TB - without Michael Turner who has a high ankle sprain meaning he'll be out for weeks and then will return slowly. Coming back too soon from high ankle sprains can be crippling. Jerious Norwood is out too. Beaten by the Panthers and Jake Delhomme ? Atlanta would be lucky to beat *any* of the teams on their remaining schedule the state they're in. Their weapon - the running game - has been decommissioned. Potential meltdown unless Ryan steps up. 3 WINS. 8-8.

Philly - Westbrook has suffered two concussions in as many weeks. No way he plays Sunday, if he play, the Eagles should be sued for Duty of Care. Tommie Harris thinks McNabb is one of the top 3 QBs in the NFL. He must be talking about Madden on his Playstation, because with the weapons McNabb has on offense - and it's some list [Maclin, Desean, Celek, Avant, Westbrook before injury] - the Phillistines continue to fail somehow, but are gelling a good future team together - they're not quite there yet though, and they have problems on defense. We should win at home, taking care of thetie-breaker. They play @CHI, WAS, @ATL, @NYG, SF, DEN, @DAL. Tough with shaky defense going up against those teams who are all pretty good on D themselves. Meltdown Philly. 4 wins. 9-7. We win the tie break.

Green Bay - Aaron Rodgers has had the **** sacked out of him more than Pamela Anderson and is running like OJ. They're the most penalised team in the league. We were better than them in week one. They have to come to our house and win. Tommie and Wale say "Hi Pamela". And they are NOT winning in Soldier field. Probable meltdown. Tough schedule : SF, @DET, BAL, @CHI, @PIT, SEA, @ARI. 3 WINS. 8-8.

Carolina - Same record as Bears. Just lost Jordan Gross for the season at LT. Jake Delhomme is their QB. RBs both have banged up knees. Tough Schedule : MIA, NYJ, TB, NE, MIN, NYG, NO.Giants - Strahan's gone, baby. Strahan's gone. In Self-destruct mode. Eli Manning is a tool. Tough schedule : MIA, @NYJ, TB, @NE, MIN, @NYG, NO. Stuffed. 8-8 at best.

49ers - Same record. Have us in a tie. Not such a tough schedule : They play @GB, JAC, @SEA, ARI, @PHI, DET, @STL. 3 wins. 8-8 or 9-7.

Dallas - Tony Romo. December is coming. Nuff said. Play : WAS, OAK, @NYG, SD, @NO, @WAS, PHI. 3 or 4 wins. Champs ? 9-7 or 10-6.

NYG - Game ahead. Play ATL, @ DEN, DAL, PHI, @ WAS, CAR, @ MIN. 8-8 or 9-7.

Rough weather is moving in ....
