Couple of things...

I'd prefer if moving forward no one mentions the word "playoffs", or "we can still finish 11-5"...etc.

Secondly, yes, there is no defending Cutler on this one...BUT, we still AT LEAST have some stability at the position for once in our lives, and hopefully, can build around his specific strengths. I dont want to hear how we WOULD HAVE WON THAT GAME with Orton or Grossman, well guess what, we would have lost the games against Seattle and Pittsburg...so lets not get crazy here.

Over, not very fun, and looks like a grim near future.

All of you that said Forte lost his burst are right. The O-line hasn't done him any favors, but he's not the same back as last year. I know what happened, he asked Cedric Benson for the extra 10 pounds he shed during the off-season. Get you're ass on a treadmill.

Shaeffer should be playing from here on out. He got a push during that last drive and gave Cutler some protection.

Olin Kruetz snaps the ball off the ground. He needs to be replaced next year. Finding a center should be a priority.

After all that talk about WRs before the season, we still need a big physical possession type receiver. Nice to see Aroshwhateverthefuck, the one guy Cutler felt he had some chemistry make the field. About fucking time. I want to see if this guy has been out of the loop for a reason. Coaches, if Jay says he thinks he has chemistry with a wide out in the future, please listen. Lets get some big guys in here that don't give up on routes and can go up for a jump ball type situation.

The most important thing I want to see the rest of the way is Jay Cutler get his confidence back. Although, I only blame him for the first and last INT, if you throw that many picks you are going to question yourself. We all know this guy has the ability. He needs to get some rhythm with our receivers and get his swag back.

I don't know why he is not using his arm on some plays to zip it into guys. I'd rather have a heater go off one of our guys chests rather than some finesse bullshit that gives the D time to react and pick it off. Enough of these touch passes. Throw the ball hard places. I don't know why he isn't using his arm strength. Maybe because the pocket is collapsing in front of him and he's afraid that if he steps up he will get crushed again by a DT.

One more thing...Mr. Turner, please make a mental note that the half back screen to Forte works. He had 160+ receiving yards. Hopefully, we won't have to rely on you remembering that for very long even though I know you wouldn't pick it up anyways.

Aw, come on guys. There's still a lot of football left to go. We can still finish 11-5. The Cardinals made it to the Super Bowl with a 9-7 finish. We can do this!

Sorry for being optimistic but this season is not over yet. Two weeks from now if you all want to proclaim that it is over then fine but not now. The Vikes still have the toughest part of their schedule coming up. Against common opponents we are 3-2 to their 4-1 and the Vikes could lose 5 of their next 8. (I have us splitting the series. Maybe one more if the Seahawks show up to play. All I am saying is that in 3 weeks we could be sitting at 7-5 and the vikes could be at 8-4. The season looks dark but if we can have the defense from last night mixed with the offense from a couple weeks ago we can still make the playoffs and do pretty well once we are there.

I remember reading that we would be an offensive Juggernaut if we scored every time we made it in the red zone this year. The play calling by RT in the red zone is to predictable. Why burn a play and try to run up the middle when have shown all year that is exactly what play we always call on first down and the same play we get defeated on 95% of the time unless it's the lowly browns.... Last night I saw us burn this same play twice in the red zone expecting to made a third down miracle. Instead we get picked off because Cutler tried to force it in. Lets buse our brain RT and be more creative. Lets score every time we get in the red zone... No excuses!!!!! No more dumb ass RT play calling BS. No more red zone picks. Get Your head out of your ass Cutler & BE A LEADER and settle for three points if needed.

......Pissed Offs back....tell a friend... Its the real me. A little shocked that no one had stolen that username after over a year but I've heard theres been several impersonators since I've been gone. Anything you've read from a so called Pissed Off within the last year and change has not been me, this is my first day posting since then. The season is over and this would be about the time I'd say, lets rebuild, throw in the backup and see what he's got (at all positions, not just QB) but we clearly cant do that cuz Cutler is the future of the franchise. Thats the real problem here....we're not supposed to be buried only midway thru the season...we're not supposed to try out the young backup QB or DB or whatever and see what he's got cuz we're supposed to be in the playoff hunt. This sucks, lets find a new team to watch for the rest of the season so we're not sulking for the next 7-10 weeks. Heres the silver lining...or mabye its bronze or rusting metal, but theoretically, with the talent we have on this team, no matter how bad things go in the offseason, including hopefully the firing of Lovie and Turner, we have enough talent that we could make a playoff run next year and thereafter. Look at what we have coming back, the key pieces are still going to be in place, new coach or not, and I think the majority of the reason a team wins anyway is players performing, not coaching. You can take me deep on that opinion based on this year but I wont change my mind. So there it is. There will still be ups and downs this year, no playoff aspirations, but we're not going to lose EVERY game from here on out so the best we can hope for is to mabye beat the Vikes once or play spoiler later in the year with a few Ws and hopefully that'll keep us cheery enough to make it into next season. Hows that for talking someone off the ledge. Its just sports. But take all of this now with grain of salt as I am no longer the die hard, let the bears control my moods type of fan. I look forward to reading some of the old timers I remember from years past as well hearing from some of the new blood I havent heard from. I wont be posting much but I thought I'd put my two cents in coming back.

Jay is puzzling. Is his demeanor a problem, or perhaps attempt to control his emotions for fear his diabetes will flare up (a real possibility - not being facetious). I get the impression by body language that he is disgusted with the play calling. WE CAN'T RUN - why does Turner keep trying in the red zone???

He threw over 50 passes in a 10-6 game. Has that EVER happened in the history of the NFL? The INTs may be Cutler only, or it may be him feeling he has to get rid of the ball too quick.

Missed a lot of the game (thank God) - but were there a lot of planned rollouts?

Well put Jeff. Question, do the Bears have any run plays designed NOT to run up the middle?? Man, we had weak side wide open all game, especially at goaline, and did not capatalize on it. You know whats funny (I live in San Diego) and was lisetening to AM Chargers radio and they were talking to LT. LT was asked if (Norv) Turner will ever stop running the ball up the middle on 1st down and LT just laughed. I guess it runs in the family.. How do Turners get jobs in the NFL?? We had the game if we would have just passed to Olsen and Forte the whole game because its pretty obvious no one else can run a route. Sorry Hester, you are pretty bad. Go back to returning kickoffs please. You are not feared anymore...

Jay Cutler sealed Ron Turner's fate last night.

I'm not saying RT has been the biggest problem with the offense this year (I think it has more to do with the players) but people are going to look for a scapegoat and the Bears certainly not going to quit on Cutler after just 1 season, or Devin Hester for that matter either.

Maybe it just seems like it happens to the Bears more than other teams because I'm a Bears fan, but this team never fires on all cylinders. One week the offense shows up and the defense has a horrible game, and the next week the defense gives a solid effort but the offense decides to let the team down. Every year it’s the same crap. In the past special teams had been something you could rely on each week, but this year the unit seems to have taken a step back. The delay of game penalty on the FG before the half with one time out left is about as bad as it gets. The coaches should be thanking Robbie Gould for saving them from further embarrassment.

I know this team has the talent to succeed as evidenced by good performances from all 3 phases. But for some reason or another, these coaches and players have yet to figure out how to put it all together for 60 minutes. At least in the past we knew the identity of this team. We knew we could count on the defense and special teams to show up, and it was just a matter of how many points could the offense muster that given week. These days, the defense nor special teams can be counted on to ‘show up’ and while we’d all like to see the offense begin to pick up the slack, the fact is consistency is still missing from the unit going on 25 years.

I believe we’re in the ugly transition period for a franchise who is in the process changing their identity and philosophy. This is the time where we go from a defensive oriented team with a low-risk low-reward offense, to a team that focuses on putting points on the board first and focusing on defense second. Obviously the transition has not been smooth as we expected or hoped. The defense has seemed to give way beneath injuries and a lack of leadership while the offense has lacked rhythm and consistency and has yet to grow into its full potential. While some of us were expecting the window of opportunity for this defense to remain open while allowing an offense with a real QB to put them over the top, it seems that window of opportunity on defense is just about shut and it’s time to facilitate change, it’s time to facilitate transition, and it’s time to establish a new identity.

“This is the worst slump I’ve been in,” Cutler said shortly before leaving the stadium. “There were some things that happened out there. But hey, I’ll be back throwing it again next game.”

You are god damn right he will. i don't want Rexy, Hutch, Neckbeard, Moreno, Willis, Stenstrom, Krenzel, Slash, Blake or any other perennial backup that the league has had or will have in the future. I want El Cuccillero, the fucking Cut Man. The only rub is that you have to give him tools and a plan to work with. You have to have a team around him, a running game, a little blocking, some consistent WR play, etc. This is not a video game, nor is it grade school football. Jay has a great arm but he is human.

The Vikings will find that out soon enough. When Brett is gone or hurt you will see the same old Vikings. You all know what the old vikings do...they choke. We are going through growing paings right now just like every team does from time to time. In this game sometimes the ball bounces your way...and sometimes Josh Bullocks can't fall on it.

The Bears will be lucky to go 2-5 the rest of the season. That is hoping the Rams and Lions continue to play like they have. Farve is going to come in and throw all over this lack luster of a team. Last nights game is a poor excuse for a Pro team. But hey at least we still have emotionless Lovie on the sidelines. Just think of the fun there. This team is playing like Lovie's emotions flat.

The defense can't stop the pass. The defense can't stop the run. Other than that they are in great shape. I don't think the defense played particularly well last night...I think the Niners' offense played like shit. Frank Gore is a good back and performed very well. Alex Smith no longer needs to wear pads. I think Rex Grossman is better than him.

Favre is going to pass for 400 yards to Berrian (assuming the expensive pussy is healthy) and Harvin. The Bears couldn't hold to 32nd ranked rushing offense to under 100 yards last week, AP should set a new single game rushing record, breaking the current one held by him.

Growing pains might be it but I think it's much deeper than that. Jeff is dead fucking wrong when he says it's not the time to talk about firing anybody. I think we need a coaching overhaul. Offense. On a Minnesota station, several poeple have said they feel sorry for the bears and that they were kind of rooting for them last night like the same way you want to root for the precious little underdog that sucks so bad and you feel terrible for them. He's Rex with more overall talent (though I'm not seeing it right now). Both have super strong arms, both take chances, gunslinger type. Cutler is more mobile and as I said just a hair better most all other aspects. But we didnt have to give up everything to get Rex and mortgage the future. We need a different TYPE of QB. I hope everyone is happy now with Jay and his style, he sure has been a lot better than we've had the previous 3 years huh? Consistency is the problem with Bears QBs and if you read that KC Joyner article like I told you to in the last thread, you'll know why.

Here's the thing regarding the Vikings...they had to rent a QB who was only playing there to stick it to his old team to even be considered a contender. The bottom line is, Favre's out of there after this year and they will be right back to square one with no quarterback...and we all know how that hurts your chances...they have absolutely no room to say anything...this is simply a one year blip on the radar screen and they will be a .500 team next year when Favre leaves... they were mediocre last year with the best player in the NFL and one of the best defenses bc they had no QB and the same will occur next year...

I do worry about his state of mind. I really beleive you beat down a great player and after a while they start to beleive they are mediocre just like the LOVIE'S Kumbaya MANTRA. It's just one game.

What concerns me most at this time is that there appears to be so many areas that need to be addressed. They tried to overhaul the O-line last off-season and, apparently, whiffed on 3 guys.

Now, in addition to how to protect the franchise (which is #1 on any list of issues to be addressed), almost everywhere you look on defense is a question mark as well.

I don't know how you fix that many leaks in one off-season.

I have previously posted that I thought it was even money that Cutler finishes the season on I.R.

It pains me to say this but I think those odds have changed.

I now make it 1 to 2 he goes down and out before week 16.

If, instead of firing Lovie, they demote him to D-Coordinator, and start a search for a new head coach, does that work in his contract? The idea being that he would quit instead of being just the D-Coordinator, and then the organization wouldn't be on the hook for his salary.

Of course, he could stick it to the Bears as the D-Coordinator... but if so, then maybe they could demote him to Assistant LB Coach... or hire Rivera to be the Head Coach and then Lovie would surely quit.

IBN&O..not sure about the contract..LDL has bent over so many times before to say "Thank you sir may I have another" so he might actually just bend over again as D-Coordinator.

The last play call was beyond awful. Flooding the right side of the field w/3 receivers... the same area of the endzone they had Cutler throwing to all night, w/picks as his only reward. Maybe Olsen ran the wrong route? Hard to say... That being said he could have easily hit Earl Bennet, or even ran for the TD. I feel like he locks onto a guy when he's under pressure. What are you going to do, though? He's the QB for at least 4 more years... bear minimum. Let's hope we get him some protection, a running game, and a defense. Hope....

I read somewhere Leslie Fraiser, CB from the '85 team and the Vike's D coordinator contract expires the end of this season. How would he look on the Bears sideline?

Goat 1A is being underrepresented, so I feel compelled to spew. I wrote in a comment on this blog after the pasting from Warner & Co. that it was a seriously dumbass decision to move Hester to W.R. Jeff nails it perfectly. That never, ever should have happened, and for me, it was the beginning of the end.

Now, we have Jay Cutler, whose leadership skills are being put under the microscope a little more, and rightly so. He's a great instinctive player who can improve with time, an actual O-line, a Center that isn't 3 years past his retirement, last year's Forte, and next year's Fitzgerald.

Lovie, for all his former defensive strengths (where ever those went), is about as QB-savvy (or for that matter, offense-savvy) a coach as Tom Cable or Eric Mangini. None of them have the vision to build a winning offense in today's NFL, and bluntly, they never will. Lovie could change, but that would mean he believed he needed to.

Odds on that, anyone?
