White Sox agree to terms with Mitchell

The White Sox have come to terms on a deal with first round draft pick Jared Mitchell. Mitchell hit .327 for LSU this season with 11 home runs, 50 RBIs, and 35 stolen bases. Mitchell was considered one of the most athletic players in this years draft, which comes as no surprise being a two-sport star for LSU.

Mitchell will begin his career for the Kannapolis Intimidators.

White Sox draft Jared Mitchell

The White Sox selected outfielder Jared Mitchell with the 23rd overall pick in the 2009 MLB Draft. Mitchell, a 20-year old junior out of LSU, is hitting .325 with 12 doubles, 4 triples, 9 home runs, and 35 stolen bases. Mitchell is one of the most athletic players coming into this draft, and projects well for the future.

"I am ridiculously excited to join the Chicago White Sox," Mitchell told whitesox.com. "It is an unbelievable thing to work so hard and to get here and be picked by a great organization."

Mitchell was selected in the 10th round of the 2006 draft by the Minnesota Twins, but chose not to sign. Mitchell felt that he still had to get better mentally and physically.

Mitchell's Tigers will take on the University of Virginia Saturday, but following his season Mitchell plans to sit down with his advisor, Greg Landry, and work out a deal with the White Sox.

"Very good," Mitchell said when asked to rate his signability. "I want to get out there as quick as possible. Very, very, very good."
