Colvin tearing up Double-A

In his first six games with the Tennessee Smokies, Colvin is hitting .417 with 1 home run and a .462 on-base percentage. He has reached base safely in four of his last games, and has two extra-base hits. The Cubs were taking a chance when they promoted Colvin before he really broke out in Daytona, but it is proving to be the right move and an opportunity Colvin is not passing up.

The Cubs should try to get Colvin a month at Triple-A before the season is over, just so he has the chance to face pitchers with major league experience. If Milton Bradley can't stay healthy, the Cubs could give him an opportunity to play a good portion of the playing time.
