The Real L Word Season 1 Episode 2
So who watched Season 1 Episode 2 of The Real L Word??? ( the new lesbian reality tv show ) Well I was still out roaming the streets aimlessly, attending the Chicago Pride Parade and all the after parties. By 9m Sunday, I was completely exhausted!! My bed was calling my name. As well as some crab rangoon. Yum.
Needlessly to say, I had some catching up to do!
Some have more drama than others as we get a wider scope into careers and love lives.
****Spoiler Alert Ahead***
Happy Pride Chicago and All Around!!!!
The Real L Word: Season 1 Episode 1

Wow.......
My jaw just dropped.
I couldn't help but go "ohhhhhhhh" at the end and so did everyone else at T's Restaurant and Bar this past Sunday night with HRC screening the very first episode of this landmark lesbian reality series The Real L Word.
Last night T's was packed with hopeful and bitter women circled around beers chatting with buddies and new friends alike. I too ran into a few familiar faces and circled around my own friends to watch reactions and to gossip afterward. Reality shows are really good for this one thing. If you weren't talking about an issue before....you will now. I can remember watching The L Word with my ex-girlfriend and trying to avoid the similarities from screen paralleling my life and relationships but I couldn't beat it in the end! Even outside of relationships, they are really good in getting a community of people thinking. Thoughts help to create change. Like what exactly do you want to see in shows that are meant to represent the lesbian and queer women's community? Yeah, good job getting that moving Showtime.
And now a Summary of Season 1 Episode 1 of The Real L Word....
The Real L Word: Where to Watch in Chicago! + Sneak Peaks!

and now here's a few sneak peaks into what to expect on Sunday......You'll begin to understand just why you'll be glued to your seat and tv's each Sunday night!
And there's a preview of Rose and her girlfriend out at the bar.
The Real L Word Premieres THIS SUNDAY!!!!!
The first episode of The Real L Word, the new ground breaking lesbian reality series, launches Sunday, June 20th at 9pm. Excited??!!?? I most certainly am. Over this past weekend Ilene Chaiken introduced three of these sexy ladies at LA Pride. We've seen so much of the ladies already that I can't wait for the series to finally begin!
And by the way, if you've any doubts about not being sucked into the television and trumping your "Real L Word" props the next day, pledging some lezzy alliance to these Cali dykes, and wanting to kick a few in the ass, I ensure you within fifteen minutes you'll forget all about the ramped up chest pumping finding comfort in that cozy chair or hard-ass bar stool as the room goes quiet. Thanks to showtime, I got a glimpse into the first few episodes and it exceeded even my expectations. Oh, and all those initial thought, yeah, Ilene hits those first. You'll see.
Wow! This Queer Calender of Chicago Events is Jam Packed!

The Real L Word : Meet Jill
The Real L Word : Meet Nikki
The Real L Word : Meet Tracy
The Real L Word : Meet Whitney
*The untamed lover of life. With savvy street smarts and a wild edge, Whitney is an absolute handful. And it doesn't take long to pick up on the passion for women that gets her into trouble... a lot of trouble... especially with straight girls. While Whitney may be the best friend you'll ever have, she's the self-professed worst girlfriend. She's "...always looking for love, but losing to lust."
The Real L Word : Meet Mikey
*The wild wizard behind the fashion show curtain. Tatt'ed up and cruisin' into downtown from her Van Nuys pad on one of her custom-built motorcycles, everyone knows when Mikey has entered the Cooper Building. When not preparing for LA Fashion Weekend, she's marketing and promoting her designer clients -- from model auditions and fittings, to drinks, meetings and photo shoots. Unfortunately, her non-stop workweek leaves Mikey with little time to spend with her makeup artist fiancé -- let alone come to an agreement with her on wedding plans. Indeed, this Culver City, CA native has lots to juggle in the next few months... and we can't wait to watch it all undress, er, unfold.
The Real L Word : Meet Rose
*This sexy Latina was the inspiration for Papi's character on The L Word. She's a heartbreaking Lotharia trying to shake old habits and be in a serious relationship... but she isn't sure she trusts herself just yet. Fortunately, she has a very supportive family who would love to see her settle down with her girlfriend of six months -- whom they all adore by the way. But Rose is altar-skittish and may be too wild to be tamed by one flame. She might be old-fashioned, but will a taste for excitement and the good life keep this self-described player from being able to commit?

One Heck of Queer Weekend Ahead in the Chicago Land!!
First there is....
The 4th annual-ish party is made to flag'em loud and flag'em proud! Tag down your mates or that beauty standing in the corner with just a little wink of your bottom! No matter if your top or bottom, pierced or are into leather, you can send a very direct signal with your pocket.
FKA ( formally known as ) is such a great party and has a similar vibe to Chances Dances.
Words from Fabulous Mouths (theirs): For trans men and trans women and their chasers, queers and allies, movers and/or shakers. This party is as queer as queer Chicago can be!
Don't know how to Hanky? Here's a few tips. Come and make your very own hanky to party with...at the party!! Now my problem is going to be that I will need one heck of a multi-colored hanky! There are just to many situations to have fun with! Thursday. 9pm. Big Chicks. Be there.

Behind the Scenes: The Real L Word
Yes, I will be watching The Real L Word. Hopefully I'll be glued to the screen with some other lovely beauties over popcorn and wine. In the end it's lesbians....and drama. I'm in. Plus, how many programs are out there specifically directed at the lesbian audience??? I don't have Logo, so I can't vouch for them. If nothing else The Real L Word will give me something to talk about the next day, that's for certain and you can bet I'll be blogging away as it goes!
So there is a new teaser. !*squel*!
What I love about this teaser is that we can really hear them talking this time around! Intonations. Inflictions. Tones. Everything a voice can convey about a person is making this show very real for me now. I anticipate expectations will be shattered when it finally airs on who's who in the house and what is what.
Dinah Shore Weekend!! The BIGGEST women's weekend ever! {{ Part 3, "Out in the Desert" ~ Documentary }}
And from the lips of babes.....
"It's The Dinah Shore like never before when cameras roll at the world's biggest bash for women. Out in The Desert takes an in-depth look at what happens when tens of thousands of gals from around the world converge on Palm Springs for a series of wild pool parties, star-studded concerts, hookups, breakups, and the rare opportunity for women from all walks of life to experience a sense of community. For the first time ever, this feature length documentary captures all the bright lights and babes in bikinis, while chronicling the unbelievable stories of 10 very different women who packed their bags, ditched their inhibitions, and went all out in the desert. With celebrity interviews and appearances by Carmen Electra, Margaret Cho, Indigo Girls, God-des and She, Michelle Clunie, Jenny Shimizu, Robin S., Jill Bennett, Cathy Dubuono, Elizabeth Keener, Jamie Lauren, Erin Foley.... to name a few. "

Dinah Shore Weekend!! The BIGGEST women's weekend ever!
A few weeks ago Dinah Shore Weekend kicked off in Palm Springs, California! Dinah Shore Weekend is the premier and largest Women's Party in the World. Yes, there is something or another about golf, and a woman named Dinah Shore, and outdoors but that isn't the main reason most people go to Dinah Shore at all. Golf was it's original concept but as the crowds came, the party started! Pool, sun and splashing good time!
The line of featured Salt 'n Pepa, Sarah Shahi, Ke$sha, God-Des and She, Vicki Shaw, a slew of comedians with other performers as well as film screenings and lots and lots of pool parties. I'm so sad I missed out! But, I got to live vicariously though a few of our Chicago faves. Here's what they've got to say about Dinah:

Spin Night Club During the Boycott
I think it's pretty well known that there is a boycott happening against Spin Night Club. If this is the first time your hearing of it, welcome! I've got some links for you.....
The first article written "Women lead mass boycott of Spin nightclub on grounds of sexism, racism" by Katherine Winfrey-King
The suit article "A&C Productions choose lawyer; lawyer files first complaint"by Katherine Winfrey-King
Another Article addressing Boycotts and Trans Inclusion "Now Just One Ranting Minute: Another SPIN on Boycotts and Trans Inclusion" by K.Sosin
An article with Windy City Times "Women sue Spin nightclub" by Sam Worley
Another article "The boycott Spin issue" by Joel Christopher Burton
And yet another article "Lesbians launch boycott of popular Boystown nightclub" by Joseph Erbentraut
Needless to say, it sounds like a messy situation. However, a little over a week ago, for various reasons, I decided to slip on down to Spin:
A. Curiosity
B. What's walking distance from my house? Spin.
C. Cheap Drinks
D. More women attending than any other bar in Boystown ( which considering the boycott this says a lot about the climate in boystown )
So a little over a week ago I went to Spin Night Club to check out the scene. I didn't know what to expect and walked slowly in that direction filled with innocence and neutrality. To start with, I was quite apprehensive about attending Spin's Dollar Drink Night considering the potential heat I'd handle from the lesbian community. There was a boycott in order and the last thing I wanted was to be labeled a scab. Yes, I understand not everyone supports the boycott, some are riding the fence not sure what to think of it all; wanting to support but just perplexed. Personally, I felt pressure, no matter if it was intended or not, to boycott spin. Until now, I didn't know what to do. I texted a friend, inviting her to come with me, but the first thing that came tumbling from her mouth was, "Don't you know about the boycott". Yes. I did.

::::: The Real L Word :::::: It's Finally Happening!
So, it's really happening!
What's most exciting about this for me is that I get to watch some dyke drama again in the company of other women -hopefully sans our own dyke drama- with wine and food. If one thing is true for The L Word is that it really brought our community together, with women coming out of the woodworks, flooding to bars and house parties to watch The L Word together.
The cliff hanger ending to the final season of The L Word upset many people, including myself, as I gasped at the screen asking, "wtf....that's it!" And speaking of "wtf", whatever happened to the web series spin off featuring the incomparable Leisha Hailey? Don't leave us hanging Ilene! Hopefully, The Real L Word fully delivers. Just don't leave us out wet to dry.....
So, The Real L Word is brought to us from our gay loving Showtime network, by Golden Globe winner Ilene Chaiken (who brought us The L Word) who is now bringing us a documentary series about the real lives of lesbians. ( I'm sorry this last line ~via the site~ only makes me think of porn. Like we have secret dirty things we do and want you to watch. I suppose this is the hook to get straight audiences in on it and I'm sure it will work. Then again, I live in a gay bubble. I forget the rest of the world really has little clue. It just may be a spectacle for them. Go Showtime for potentially busting their vanilla bubbles! Now I see why you didn't cast everyday Americans.)
THE REAL L WORD: Los Angeles will follow a group of real-life, high-profile, left coast lesbians as they go about their daily lives, at work and play. The producing team plans to show viewers that the cast can be every bit as glamorous, fashionable, fabulous and even as cutthroat as their celebrated-but-fictional counterparts.
Let's meet the Cast.....

Tegan and Sara in Chicago!! New Videos!!
So eventually I got home and scrambled around listening to Tegan and Sara on blast as I got ready for the concert. I love foreplay. It just makes everything so much better. *winks* First of all, I've never been to the Aragon Ballroom EVER and it's such an amazing space. You'll see how it fits so many people when you watch the video and needless to say, it was crazy hot! I even sweated down my legs. My suggestion: Just don't wear clothes. Ok, well legally you'd have to....so just were very little. It'll be appreciated. Trust. :)

Do You Have the Luck of the Irish? !! Give-A-Way!!
I'm seeing more skin than I have seen these past three months and sometimes....I just shake my head. There is a such thing as too much skin people! But who am I to talk. I'm the queen of reveling chesty pleasures for days on end. I quite like my rack. Why hid it I say!
None the less, with Spring brings in a new phase of development. I've been talking about it for the last two week and now here is it! (and trust this is only the beginning being that I have so much more lined up)
First, if you've never visited this store, having only flirted with it like a player from across the street, and then shyly moved forward down your magically fabulous journey in boystown, I say let's correct that. You can't just leave a woman hanging like that! This Chicago woman owned sex-positive boutique was first conceived back in 2005 (it feels like so much longer!) and still considers Chicago it's home.
That's right folks. Their only local. The original idea was to give a refresher on conservative u.s. politics on sex product salesmanship and provide a more friendly sex-positive approach that had been and is continuing to run fantastically in Europe. I'll give you and idea of what the store is like but I highly recommend you visit it for yourself. It's an experience words alone can't comprehend. There is artwork on the walls;not your grandmothers pretty portraits either. These are for fatals and lovers of the body in all it's sensual forms. There are a variety of dildos, vibrators, leather cuffs, lubes, toys and books. Did I mention they also carry D.I.T.C. Yeah, I'll be writing more about them soon. Hotness, let me tell you. They also have a collection of dvds, including Crash Pad Series, and erotica to feed your insatiable soul. Again, it's a must see.

Cirque de Femme at Circuit Night Club (A Review of Sorts....)
Cirque de Femme was a carnival of the sense for the women in Chicago featuring aerial artists, jugglers and carnival games. I never did see the games but there were plenty of pictures with people playing in and around them so I'm guessing I just missed out! Better luck next time!
Well, it seems with all the changes happening within the Chicago lesbian scene Circuit is finally beginning to fill-in like it did a few years back when Girl Bar was rocking our neighborhood. Several of the previous events held at Circuit for women had not seen the wealth or luxury of patrons as are now marching there way through the doors of Circuit each Friday. Maybe it's spring fever. Whatever it is I like it! And if you didn't know, Rehab just reopened a few weeks ago next to Circuit. I mean, so close you don't even have to go outside to get inside! Fabulous! It's a great spot to hid out and have a few drinks away from booming bass blasting in your ears in the main room. No need to stretch your vocal chords in this room.
