Chicago Feature Focus: Stacy Jacobs
The
Chicago
Feature Focus is a bi-weekly focus on queer women in Chicago in all
fields engaged in a variety of projects within their life and within the
queer community.
This week I have the pleasure of introducing a wonderful woman, wicked writer, constant curator of creative events and....self proclaimed geek...
Tell us a little about
yourself.
I live in Evanston with my partner, Melissa
and one crazy 13 year old cat named Miss. I grew up in the north burbs,
but moved West right after college. I am a self-described dot-com baby
and was very lucky to have worked with incredible people in LA and
London. Towards the end of my stay in LA, I worked with Fuse Events, hosting the L Word screening
parties at Falcon. It was quite an experience.
I moved back to
Chicago around 2005 and worked at the Gay
Games as the Ticketing Manager for the event. That was an
absolutely amazing experience, and I was proud of my hometown for
hosting such an event.
These days, I work during the day as a
Project Manager and at night, I am pursuing my life as a writer, and
growing our website, QueerlyWed.com.
QW is a wedding planning guide and vendor directory for the LGBTQ
community.
Who or what is your inspiration?
First off, my partner is my
biggest inspiration. As my mother says, "When you know, you know." I
feel very lucky to have found someone who "gets me."
Tell us a
little about your most recent piece?
I have been working on a
book about bits and pieces of my family's history.
What
celebrity are you currently stalking? (not literally I hope!)
My
girlfriend and I watched Puccini
for Beginners the other night and I saw my girlfriend in another
life. I couldn't figure out who "Samantha" was until I searched
on IMDB and realized she was the cop
that I adore on Law and Order:
Criminal Intent.
What's currently playing on your
music player?
I am a big podcast and pop music dork , and I
love my weekly dose of Coverville.
What's
your favorite place to go in Chicago?
I love sitting out by
the water during the summer time. It is extremely calming and I find
that it's a great place to clear my head.
