The White Sox have done a great job in solidifying their roster during the offseason. The starting pitching will be excellent. The defense is much improved. They added a former closer to the bullpen. They reinforced the bench. But if they want to win it all, they still need one more piece to complete the puzzle.
A few questions for Sox fans...
Does anyone want to count on Andruw Jones for steady run production?
Does anyone think Carlos Quentin will stay healthy all year and produce like he did in his lone magical season?
Does anyone think this team has enough offense? Enough power? A true leadoff hitter?
The answers to all of those questions could be solved in one transaction. Sign Johnny Damon. (article continues below slideshow)

Breaking the Curse
Celebrating the Red Sox championship
Sure, Damon might cost more than you'd like to pay and he wants 2 years, but sometimes it takes money to make money. If Damon helps propel the Sox to and through the playoffs, he will be worth his contract and more.
Juan Pierre is an out-machine and an awful outfielder. Damon would provide more power, a better glove and is a true leadoff hitter. Andruw Jones is one big question mark. Mark Kotsay is better coming off the bench. Carlos Quentin is injury-prone and can't be counted on as your primary run producer.
Damon is the missing piece to the the White Sox offense being consistent in scoring runs. Damon won't steal as many bases as Pierre, but stolen bases are highly overrated. Damon will steal you some bags, work pitchers and draw walks, hit about 15 homers and 30 doubles and he has plenty of postseason experience.
This team will likely need to add a bat at some point. Why wait? Do it now. Go get Johnny Damon.
