Welcome to Thunderdome. Sunday's match up between the Rockford IceHogs and the Manitoba Moose was more like a slug fest than a hockey game. It was fraught with tempers flaring, fists flying and  penalties handed out. Referee David Banfield was generous handing out penalties, Rockford received a grand total of 83 PIM for 18 infractions and Manitoba received 48 penalty infraction minutes for 14 infractions. A total of 4 IceHogs players received penalties that evicted them from the game. Ryan Flinn, of Rockford, had the dubious honor of receiving the most PIM in the game. He garnered a grand total of 31 PIM for 2 separate incidents. The first was a scrum that he received a roughing minor and then just a little past mid-way into the 2nd frame he and Manitoba's Guillaume Desbiens tangled in a fight.

Sunday's game also marked the debut of IceHogs net minder, Dan Cloutier. Cloutier was recently signed to a professional try out. He played a total of 26:22 minuted before being involved in a line brawl in the 2nd frame. He took offense to being bulldozed down into the net by the Moose's Guillaume Desbiens and IceHogs' Mike Brennan. Cloutier was evicted from the game after receiving a match/roughing penalty for his actions. Rockford's Jack Skille and Manitoba's Matt Pettinger exchanged punches early in the first period, resulting in Skille being slammed head first into the ice. Skille left the ice, but returned to the game in the 2nd period and went onto score 2 goals in the 3rd frame.
