I feel blessed to be able to combine my love of photgraphy with my love of hockey. Raised in a family that avidly followed the sports of Pro Wrestling, Roller Derby, Nascar and the Chicago Bears.

The Rockford IceHogs and the Texas Stars met for the very first time last evening in Rockford. The game itself was uneventful and for the most part, even unexciting at times. The Stars are currently in 1st place in the Western Division and not without reason. They're a very solid defensive team and it shows. Stars' net minder, Brent Krahn, shutout the Hogs 4-0. Krahn was awarded the #1 Star of the Game and in addition, received AHL's #2 Star of the Night. Krahn spent most of last season playing for the Chicago Wolves.

The IceHogs announced on Tuesday they are dedicating Friday and Saturdays games to Honorary IceHog Sydney Ives, in her memory. Sydney, 11, won her courageous battle against Brain Cancer by entering Heaven on November 7th. In her honor, the IceHogs have will her honorary jersey with the #19 and her name plate hanging in their locker room for the remainder of the season. She was made a honorary IceHog on May 20, 2009 by the team. The players will all wear Ivestrong stickers on their helmets this weekend in tribute to her memory also. The motto "Ivestrong", was adopted by her family during her 18 month fight. IceHogs Center, Bracken Kearns, has pledged to donate $20 for every goal he scores the remainder of this season to the Ivestrong Foundation.
