H1N1 Vaccine Investigation, Like the Flu it Spreads

I'm nuts just ask anybody.

Yes indeed, it looks like the questions have spread to the Province of Ontario and the management of the Maple Leafs and the Raptors are on the hot seat. Explaining how professional athletes are considered high risk and have gotten H1N1 vaccines ahead of other Canadian citizens.

Amid all the hysteria and investigation Canada's Chief Public Health officer Dr Davie Butler-Jones cut to the heart of the matter and explained it in terms we all can grasp.

As reported on Healthzone .ca "the priority list was developed according to who was at greatest risk of getting really sick or dying from H1N1 and hockey players are not in that category."

"We do love our hockey, but the guidelines are based on those who are at greatest risk of developing severe disease or dying," said Butler-Jones, the head of the Public Health Agency of Canada."There will be vaccine available for everybody, so those at lower risk really should wait because the risk of death is higher in other groups and hockey players are at no greater risk than anyone else, unless they have underlying diabetes or another chronic condition that puts them at greater risk," he said. http://www.healthzone.ca/health/newsfeatures/swineflu/article/722055--flu-shots-for-leafs-raptors-spark-fury

Yes, players are at a greater risk than many of us. They travel and are exposed to crowds in airports and in arenas. There is physical contact between players. However much of this risk can be minimized by simple measures much like the Chicago Wolves and IceHogs are taking. It's clear unless a player falls into another high risk category or lives with someone who is, well, sorry Charley no shot for you. For those who do fall into high risk categories, time to get into line with the rest of us.

it's very unfortunate that the writer of this article hasn't yet learned how to spell PROVINCE. (Canada is not that far away you know)
