Breaking news, Chicago! This week on ChicagoNow Radio on WGN with Amy Guth and Alex Quigley from 9 a.m. to noon, we have all of these awesome guests:

developerbanner.jpg

9 a.m.
Lyletta the "Woodlawn Wonder" is full of sass and haaaates her developer. That's why she writes I Hate My Developer. She'll kick off Saturday's show and tell us why. Give us a shout if you hate your developer, too. We'll take your calls at (312) 591-7200.

Thumbnail image for americanprincess276.jpg

9:30 a.m.
Emily Zanotti of American Princess was in the WGN studios on election night and is going to tell us about all the shenanigans that go on behind the scenes during election coverage, and we'll talk about shenanigans we saw at the polls. (Ahem, my polling place, I'm looking your direction.) Call us with your own election day horror stories. Follow @emzanotti on Twitter.

roses.jpg

10 a.m.
That Jennifer Fernicola Ronay of Stop and Blog the Roses is always looking on the bright side. And not in that annoying way, either. In the funny way. The best way, if you ask me. She'll join us to talk about all the terrible crap in the world that we can reframe and laugh at. So take that, terrible crap! Take that! Find her on Twitter as @fernronay.

Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for lenoxbanner276.jpg

10:30 a.m.
Lenox Magee of Lenox and the Second City is a funny man. He's also on a crusade to make it into the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame. If being smart, funny and bold on the radio while tackling some major-league, serious issues can help qualify him, we are glad to do our part. (He better invite us to the Hall of Fame induction ceremony, is all I'm saying. I can't speak for Quigley, but, man oh man, I always like a reason to don evening wear.) Find Lenox as @LenoxMagee on Twitter.

Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for dailychgosportstab276.jpg

11 a.m.
Tab Bamford of Daily Chicago Sports Tab is a funny guy. He also knows a whole helluva lot about sports. Way more than I know, admittedly (despite the considerable wit, charm and wealth of sports knowledge I bring to RedEye's Friday morning 5-on-5 item I do each weel with Quigley and the RedEye Sports crew), and so he will join us to talk about all of it: the Bears, the Blackhawks, the Bulls, and that awesome underwater hockey league I'm trying to get going around here. Catch up with him as @The1Tab on twitter.

We close out the show this week talking about a couple of other hats Alex Quigley and I will be wearing this week, the upcoming ChicagoNow tweet-up on Tuesday, November 9, and the announcement of a cool, new bonus feature of the show. Boom. Oh, and I will tell the worst joke I've ever heard in my life. If that doesn't entice, I don't know what will!

Rachel Wolfe of The Art of Advice joins us at the top of the show to explain why on earth you would want to get into a sensory-deprivation chamber thingy. (I will take a lot of convincing, personally. Quigley, on the other hand, thinks it would be awesome.)

girlbox.jpg

9:30 a.m.
Lauren Kaminsky of Outside the Girl Box will be up next to talk about a weeklong observance I've never heard of before, but one that sounds interesting: Fat Talk Free Week. She'll explain the tongue-twister and why is matters.

Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for cubs.jpg

10 a.m.
Julie DiCaro of A League Of Her Own will close out the show with us. She'll be talking about Quade, and whether or not we should be concerned his name rhymes with "potty," "shoddy" and, um, "hide a body." (Callin' it like I see it folks. Callin' it like I see it.)

Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for chicagofoodsnob276.jpg

9 a.m.
Our friend Joe Campagna kicks off the show with his scandalous take on farmer's markets here in Chicagoland. You may feel the need to throw produce at your radio, but Joe knows his food stuff.

alteregomaniac188.jpg

9:30 a.m.
We'll have both NaShanta Robinson and Nash Nova on for this segment...but you'll only hear one voice. OMG SUPERHERO SECRET IDENTITIES! Nash will talk about this week's huge Chicago Comic Con and draw us both a little deeper into the world of cosplaying.

satirecitybanner276.jpg

10 a.m.
Don't know why we're so into multiple personality disorder this week, but we invited Keith Ecker on the show and ended up with six people. Expect numerous funny takes on life in Chicago. I hope we have enough spare microphones.

Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for cubs.jpg

10:30 a.m.
Cubbie Julie watches the Cubs so you don't have to watch them. And this year she's been doing you a big favor. She brought her son to Wrigley on Friday for his birthday...and witnessed yet another 9th-inning debacle and loss. So we thought it'd be fun to give her 30 minutes on the Mothership just to see what happens. Our fingers will be on the dump button.

lenoxbanner276.jpg

11 a.m.

Lenox Magee is a Hyde Park native and all-around man-about-Chicago. He'll tell you why he's outraged by the outrage over gay marriage, plus give you the Top Ten reasons why President Obama would be the perfect gay man. No, really!

11:30 a.m.
Either we must be doing something right or the bosses have been drinking again, because Alex & Amy (or Guth & Quigley, for serious folks) have the last word on CNR. Another Weekly Wager for Amy to lose**? Yep. The search for new ChicagoNow Radio theme songs? Oh yeah. Whatever else is on our minds? Absolutely. With special guest star Leonardo DiCaprio as Luke Brower.

ChicagoNow Radio Weekly Wager: Alex Loses, Amy And the Internet Win

user-pic
Alex Quigley

Former rock DJ, currently a multipurpose Chicago media guy.

So yeah, I hate losing bets. I only bet if I think I'm going to win. So I felt pretty confident going into our most recent Weekly Wager (audio available on wgnradio.com right here). Amy and I both asked our moms, "What's the worst thing I ever did as a kid?" We wrote our answers down in advance to prevent cheating.

Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Chicago_now_radio2.jpg
We closed the show on Saturday by calling our mothers! Before the segment, Quigley and I told one another about the worst thing we each did as kids. Then, we called Quigley's Mom, Barb, and my Mom, Vicki, and asked them each what they thought. Much like The Newlywed Game, we each had to match answers with our Mamas. Guess who won? Team Quigley or Team Guth? Team Guth won with Mama Guth telling the "I hate my underwear!" story, just as I guessed she might. Which means, my dear co-host Alex Quigley will be posting an embarrassing childhood photo right here on the ChicagoNow Radio blog for everyone to enjoy. Booyeah!

The 2010 Stanley Cup Finals Chicago Philly cheese deep steak dish pizza thing (it's for real)

user-pic
Amy Guth

Amy Guth is digital news editor for the Tribune's books section and blog and is co-host of ChicagoNow Radio on News 720 WGN alongside Alex Quigley. Also? Author, adventuress and grade-a sass-mouth.

Stanley Cup pizza now exists. More specifically, the 2010 Stanley Cup finals Chicago Philly cheese deep steak dish pizza thing now exists, and all as a result of ChicagoNow Radio. What is Stanly Cup pizza and what does it have to do with ChicagoNow Radio, you ask? I'll tell you.

Remember when Alex Quigley and I had Joe Campagna the Chicago Food Snob on ChicagoNow Radio on Memorial Day weekend? If not (or if you do remember and want to enjoy it again) listen to his segment at WGN Radio's archives of the show. I'll wait right here.

Right. So, In that segment, Campagna discussed with us Quigley's idea for the 2010 Stanley Cup pizza: a Chicago-style deep dish pizza with Philly Cheesesteak toppings. We discussed options: provolone slices or full-on Cheez-Whiz? Tomato sauce? Or no? Well, as a result of Campagna's culinary expertise (and-- yes, I dare to go here-- his good sense to roll with a thin crust for crying out loud), this beast of a food is now real. And, for as much as I winced as we discussed it, this creation actually seems like it would be quite good. However, as Campagna said in an email, "It was tasty but since I'm superstitious I won't be making it again until the series is over!"  F'reals, Food Snob. For. Reals.

We'll have the line up for Saturday's show posted for you here in the next day or two. In the meantime, give us a shout on the ChicagoNow Radio Facebook page, follow @AlexQuigley and yours truly (@AmyGuth) on Twitter (and @ChiFoodSnob, too while you're at it), and catch up on any show segments you may have missed in the WGN ChicagoNow Radio archives.
