ChicagoNow Radio kicks off at 9 a.m. Saturday on WGN Radio 720. The show will be a shorter one this week, running until 10:30 a.m. instead of the usual 1 p.m. Blame Northwestern football.
But hey, that's OK by us. It lets us iron the kinks out. We know there will be a few in the weeks ahead. Just like ChicagoNow is not your typical website, ChicagoNow Radio is not your typical talk show.
Its guests are not professional pundits or local celebrities. They are everyday Chicagoans, people like you and me, who are passionate about our city. Every day, they write about that passion on ChicagoNow.
Officially we call them bloggers. But we think of them as experts, because that's what they are. They are academics, entrepreneurs, doctors, lawyers, designers, writers, chefs, entertainers, athletes. On ChicagoNow, they write about their fields--often with opinion and anecdote--sometimes reacting to what professional journalists have previously reported and sometimes breaking stories of their own.

On ChicagoNow Radio, the bloggers bring that expertise to the airwaves.
Every Saturday morning, they will talk with host Bill Leff about what
really matters to Chicagoans.
One week, it might be parking tickets, the Joffrey Ballet and the Bulls. The next week, it might be Chicago Public Schools, hip hop and the Blackhawks. Over the course of four hours, we plan to feature between 12 and 16 bloggers.
During Saturday's show, we will feature four bloggers. They are Joe the Cop, Jay Cutler Superstar, Etiquette Bitch and CTA Tattler.
With Bill, each blogger will discuss what they've posted on ChicagoNow,
what's in the headlines and what's coming down the pipeline.
I will also be on Saturday's show to talk about ChicagoNow--what the site is, what it is not and what's hot on it right now. For more about ChicagoNow, check out our staff blog.
For those of you who can't wake up by 9 a.m. or find your way to WGN Radio 720 AM, we will post individual podcasts of each blogger's appearance on this very blog and on WGN's website.
We will also use this blog to post additional content like behind-the-scenes photos, the line-up for that week's show and Bill's own thoughts.
And we'll use the blog to interact with you, our readers and listeners, so that you can tell us what you like about ChicagoNow Radio and what you hate it. Who knows? You might just end up as our next special on-air guest.
