Chicago Gallery News

About

Chicago Gallery News began in 1983 as a magazine (ink, paper, words on a page!) guide to our growing art scene.  Today, we publish in print 3 times a year and maintain our website, chicagogallerynews.com the rest of the time.  CGN has always prided itself on being a clear, dependable, fresh, and accessible art resource, and our blogging will meet the same standards we have maintained at our print magazine for almost 27 years.

This blog is our live link with the public and a way to keep a dialogue going with galleries, museums, collectors, artists, and the merely curious. CGN publisher Ginny Berg does most of the posting, with occasional help from guest contributors. We won't be going a mile-a-minute, but our posts will be thoughtful, interesting and hopefully inspiring.

We hope to engage people new to the art world and break down barriers, while showing everyone that our art world is a breath of fresh air - not an intimidating land of white walls, upturned noses, and pretension.  We also want to spur art world insiders to try new places and things - Chicago's art community is large and deep, and our city is a great incubator for new endeavors and bold projects.

We cover the latest gallery shows, openings, museum exhibitions, as well as special artist talks, studio walks, general news, and more.  We also try to share news about our art world players and neighbors, as well as keep you informed about upcoming events, such as offbeat performances or art gatherings.

Our own ears are always open, so if you have tips, ideas or comments for us, just give us a shout!  We're also always looking for great pictures of gallery openings, and we'd love to share them with our readers. If you have something to contribute, send us an email.
