Linked Up

It's shaping up to be a light news day in the world of the Chicago Fire so without anything too new to report on, I thought I would share a few links with you guys to keep your Wednesday rolling along...

Here's a little write-up from ESPNChicago.com's Scott Powers detailing Chris Rolfe's upcoming transfer. Sure it's a bit dated, but it offers a different perspective than the one I went with and it's worth the read.

It may not be up as of right now, but the New York Times Soccer Blog did a Q+A with Brian McBride yesterday that should be a good read. The full transcript of the interview should be up sometime this morning so be sure to check it out.

The McBride Q+A is now up. It doesn't deal with too many Fire related questions but it's definitely a good read. You can check it out here.

And finally, I would be remiss if I didn't take a second look at the controversial PK call from this weekend. The video is after the jump (skip ahead to 4:00 to see the alleged 'foul') and it pretty clearly shows that Wilman Conde got the ball and Steven Lenhart went all Ralph Macchio on everyone and "karate-kicked" Conde's face. Good call though Mark Geiger. Way to go.

Well that's all for me for today (I know kind of lame...). But I'm hoping to be able to speak with Coach Hamlett and a few players tomorrow so if you would like a question posed to Hamlett, post it below and I'll try and get it answered.

The more I see that video the more it really aggravates me. During the play leading up to the PK call, CJ Brown goes straight up in the air to clear the ball while Moreno runs directly into him and falls (like he does all the time). Geiger really should be reprimanded by the league/USSF (similar to the way the other 2 jamokes were). Disgusting.

Padula's tackle was clearly meant to send a message and also could easily have been called a straight red.

Questions for Hamlett?
How does Lowry fit into the mix once Thorrington is healthy and available?
Will Rolfe get more opporunities to play up top closer to the goal in the final four games since by DH's own admission Rolfe is one of the best finishers in the league?
Any chance David Myrie will dress for any of the remaining four games?

John has 0 goals this year, Peter has 3 leave him in.

I agree, Geiger shouldn't have so much job security now. Also, Padula's was a red if that's a PK.

Is Blanco ready for Saturday, or is he injured? Toronto is coming with there best players, will the defense be ready for 6 player going forward cause you know they want the points.

man Prideux got schooled for the first goal. if Rolfe is one of the best finishers in the league then why doesn't he play up top, nyarko's isn't the best finisher and he hasn't brought many goals this year.

lowry

Thor
McBride-Rolfe
We let Blanco sit this one. we'll need him for the playoffs, and he's slow anyways. I know Sega is just off the injury, but we need all the offense we can get, Conde and CJ will anchor the back.

You're one short there Patrick. Banner at outside back maybe? Pause in the middle?

How about we just make one of the 3 great chances we had in the 2nd half and then the PK doesnt matter. Its not the first time that we have blown a game and it wont be the last this season. The defense is not nearly as good as we thought they would be this year and the finishing is not good either. And when is the last time we scored on a corner? I dont understand why everyone gets all excited when we get corners. We havent scored one in YEARS... Mapp played a great corner on Sunday and nobody even moved for it and it went right across the six. This team just frustrates me more than they bring joy to me anymore.
