54 - Linton Johnson III - F - 6-8 | 205 - 06/13/80 - Tulane - 6
So it appears that Mario Austin and Bryan Mullins haven't made it, after all.
It's an interesting list, though, nonetheless. There's some former NBA talent on there, not least of which is Julius Hodge, who was playing like LeBron James in Australia last season, averaging 26.3ppg, 8.0rpg and 6.0apg before leaving the team due to a pay dispute. And the Bulls own DeMarcus Nelson, Anthony Roberson and Linton Johnson III get a chance to win a roster spot for next season. (In Roberson's case, his contract becomes guaranteed on July 10th. So he might be cut before the summer league even begins.)
Other former NBA players include ex-Florida guard Taurean Green (who spent one season split between the Blazers and the Nuggets before spending last year in Spain), and James Augustine (who was a draft pick of the Magic lasting one year with the team, and who also spent last year in Spain).
Perhaps most importantly, the occasion gives us our first look at recent first round draft picks James Johnson and Taj Gibson in a Bulls uniform, where we can watch them play really meaningful games against a high standard of competition. Well, maybe.
Summer league starts on July 14th. Remember to book the time off work.

I wonder what Hodge will do. I hope we plays well enough to get some minutes for us if he makes the team. HE blogs on DX and he seems to have a good attitude now. JJ and Gibson is on th radar of course. But Im most curious about Hodge, Shippe, Nelson, Roberson and Vassallo. All who are basically fighting for 1 or 2 spots on the team. If we keep or trade kirk may bring in another one of the gaurds as well. Im not too high on Litnon johnson but he has been a Pax player for some years now. I hope to be suprised by JJ but not rally by Gibson. I havent seen many Wake Forest Games but I want to see how his game will look against this type of competition. What do you think Doug?

I think Vassallo will shock everyone in the summer league. He has the most developed strength out of all these guys on the list. He also has great size for a SG/SF at 6'6", 215 lbs. He is going to come into the league in top shape because he just played a full season for Criollos de Caguas in Puerto Rico. Lastly, he has the ability to score 15-20 points a game in the NBA.

Bulls.com have changed their mind: Bryan Mullins apparently WILL be a part of the team after all.
