Chicago Finishes Fourth in 2016 Olympic Voting

When President Obama agreed to travel to Copenhagen for the final pitch, it seemed that the Olympic bid was all but secured.  Those hopes were dashed around 10:20 central time when they announced that Chicago was eliminated after the first round of voting.

The biggest shock for me is not that Chicago didn't get the nod or that Rio did.  The biggest surprise is that we finished 4th.  Out of 4.  That would be last.  Ouch!

Maybe it was a bad omen when people showed up to Daley Plaza with these signs:

Maybe we need a new slogan?

Seriously?  People adopting the slogan from the Cubs?  I am as big a Cubs fan as there is, but adopting a slogan from the haven't-won-a-World-Series-in-101-years Cubs?  Geez!  Why not trot out Ronnie Woo Woo to the pep rally?

Hopefully this is the only big upset this weekend as the Bears host the Lions on Sunday.  A loss to Detroit would actually mean looking up in the standings to last season's laughingstock Lions. Sorry, this is a Bears blog after all.  I can't help myself.

Be sure to check out our live blog for instant analysis and reaction as the action unfolds every Game Day.  As Da Coach famously said, "This too shall pass!"  Yeah, like a kidney stone.
