A 67 year old Glen Ellyn man who worked as a banquet manager for Starwood Hotels is suing the organization for age and sex discrimination.
Bernardo Sanhueza Campoy says that he worked for Starwood for nine years without incident until January of this year when his new supervisors, Tim Ohrn and Audiel Alanis, began harassing and micromanaging him in a manner not afforded to similarly situated younger and female coworkers.
The complaint states that Ohrn repeatedly asked Campoy when he was going to retire.
Campoy also says he received derogatory emails from an email address that appeared to be related to the Sheraton, such as one that stated "Your wife has bigger balls...than you. You have the vagina! You live off your father in-law."

When Campoy brought the emails up to his supervisors, no investigation or other action was taken.
Campoy says he was written up on two occassions for pretextual reasons. When he and his supervisors met with human resources, he learned he would only receive severance if his position were to be eliminated, not if he resigned.
Ohrn, the complaint states, told Campoy he would eliminate the position so he could get severance but "would deny the conversation if he were questioned." Ohrn did not eliminate the position. Campoy was suspended for five days and, when he returned to work on October 21, 2009, he was given a 60 day performance review.
