Striker says he was beat up by Marriott personnel

A man who was striking outside the Renaissance Chicago Hotel is suing the hotel's parent Marriott International after he was allegedly beaten by security personnel.

According to the complaint, on September 18, 2009, plaintiff Miguel Avitia was on the sidewalk of the hotel in the course of his employment as an organizer of the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters, which the complaint notes is engaged in a labor dispute with Marriott International, Inc.

The complaint states that Avitia was engaged in protected activities on the sidewalk in front of the Renaissance Chicago Hotel when unknown agents of Marriott "grabbed [him] from the sidewalk...dragged [him] inside...and repeatedly kicked and punched [him]."

Awful lot of alleged assaults by security guards being reported.

Also, if these are all "unprovoked," I wonder of the guards are so dense that they don't know that security cameras are around. However, in the cases of the bar beatings and the nurse who was handcuffed, apparently certain Chicago police officers haven't figured that out yet.
