Pilot files suit against Boeing after failed takeoff and forced landing

A pilot is filing suit against The Boeing Company, alleging inadequate inspections, instructions, and warnings for its Model 747-200.

Filed today in the Circuit Court of Cook County, the complaint details an incident on July 7, 2008, in which Ivan Dankha piloted a 747 on a flight from Bogata to Miami.

Engine troubles necessitated a forced landing because "the airplane was not capable of takeoff" in certain situations, including "takeoffs on non-standard days, at high altitude airports."

Another Kalitta Air employee aboard the flight that day also filed suit against Boeing today in Cook County. Both lawsuits involve claims of personal injury as a result of the forced landing, and both are suing for an unspecified amount in damages.
