Lawsuit filed in the fatal police shooting of a man in Lawndale

The mother of a man shot to death by police in Lawndale last month filed a wrongful death suit against the City of Chicago and unknown police officers in the Circuit Court of Cook County today.

According to the complaint, Rakeem Nance left his family's home and was chased by police officers under the elevated train tracks. Police then aimed and shot him.

Nance was not armed at the time, according to the complaint. His mother is requesting an unspecified amount in damages. - police shooting suit.pdf
