Filed today in Cook County, Rodney Taylor v. Jehad Haleem and Ace Auto Recovery, Inc.
What could this case be about, you wonder? Cars? Damages in repairs? Breach of contract?
Good guesses. All incorrect.
Today's case is about spit. A $50,000 case about spit.
The curious case of Rodney Taylor and the injurious saliva
It was July 3, 2007, and the plaintiff was driving on S. Kedzie, around the 5900 block. The defendant was also driving, when he "unlawfully, maliciously, and willfully and wantonly spit saliva on Plaintiff's face at or near the Kedzie Ave Location."
What's more, according to the complaint, he "spit saliva on Plaintiff's face ... without Plaintiff's consent."
As a result, our plaintiff has "experienced, and continues to experience, injuries and damages of a personal and pecuniary nature, including emotional distress and expenses of medical care, treatment, and services."
Wow. Who knew saliva could do all that?

I love the part where it says he "spit saliva on the Plaintiff's face... without the Plaintiff's consent." It made me this of this man saying "Well, I was about to expectorate a quantity of saliva onto your visage, but first, I thought I should ask if you consent?"
But seriously, emotional distress and medical expenses? Does the defendant spew poison or battery acid or something?
