In case filed in the Circuit Court of Cook County today, the Board of Trustees of the Public School Teacher's Pension and Retirement Fund of Chicago is accusing the city's Board of Education of shortchanging thousands of teacher pensions.
The complaint alleges that since March 2007, the Board of Ed has "failed to provide sufficient records containing accurate and complete information regarding salary and creditable service so that pensions can be estimated and calculated properly."
Is the Chicago Board of Ed shortchanging teacher pensions?
It continues, claming that some teacher retirees from 2007 are being paid "estimated pensions," and that terminated or deceased employees "have not received accurate refunds."
The plaintiffs are demanding that the Board of Ed provide the necessary payroll information to accurately calculate future pension contributions, and to pay back refunds with interest.
