The mother of an 8-year-old boy is suing retail chain Family Dollar and the makers of a dart gun, claiming the product caused her son to choke to death in 2007.

Ethel Rodgers is suing Gordy International, the manufacturer of the Auto Fire Target Set, on the grounds that "the projectile from these toys are designed with parts that are too small and dangerous and may be ingested by children, causing them serious injury or death."
The set was purchased at Family Dollar by defendant Lashama Grant, who gave the toy to Rodgers' son. According to the complaint, Family Dollar "knew or should have known about the defects in the Auto Fire Target Set."
