The 20-year-old son of former Cook County Court Judge Lambros Kutrubis filed suit in court today, accusing his father of eight years of physical and emotional abuse.

In the 16-page complaint, John Kutrubis detailed his father's initial abuse of his mother, Betty Stokes, leading up to an incident in 1999, when he threw her out of the house and cut off all contact between mother and son.

In the years following, from 1999 until 2007, Kutrubis claims his father "on a regular, consistent basis, would become intoxicated and then begin physically striking Plaintiff about the head, back and chest, often without warning."

He would also "remind Plaintiff that because of Defendant's status as a Cook County Circuit Court Judge, Plaintiff was powerless to take any effective actions against Defendant's abuse," according to the complaint.

The complaint also lists specific incidents in 2000, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 when Lambros Kutrubis was violent or sexually inappropriate with his son, including one incident in which he pushed the plaintiff out of a car and tried to run him over.

In 2007, the ex-judge was convicted of domestic battery against his son. An order of protection was issued, and the plaintiff has resided with his mother ever since.

For the years of physical, verbal, emotional and sexual abuse, he is suing his father for damages in excess of $50,000.
