Fly Me To Africa - Please!

As the founder and publisher of theLocalTourist.com, it's my job to help people enjoy Chicago.

It's hard to believe that I first spoke with Jay about climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro last December. At that time we planned on climbing in June. When we originally checked flights they were around $1600. We were very close to getting a flight sponsor, but it fell through and by the time we knew they were up to $2200. So, we pushed it back to August.
Jay - UltramanThen Jay was invited to participate in Ultraman at the beginning of August. This is a double Ironman. Only 400 athletes have completed this exercise in endurance. I've come to the conclusion that he's a crazy man, but even he's not crazy enough to swim 6.2 miles, bike 261.4 miles cross country, and run 52.4 miles in one weekend and then climb the tallest free standing mountain in the world a few weeks later.

So August came and went; October was our next hope and that's almost up. The idea of reaching the summit on New Year's was enticing, but flights are up to around $3,000 for that bit of symbolism.

However...if we leave on January 26 and return on February 4, flights are only $1269 ($1429 with taxes & fees). Jay's already booked his with frequent flier miles. He's set.

I am not. I have no frequent flier miles and honestly, don't have the available funds to book the flight.

I need your help.

AirplaneIf you can sponsor my flight (and it needs to be booked ASAP - like today - before it increases again), not only will you be helping to raise money for pediatric cancer research, treatment, and care, I will thank you publicly and profusely. You'll get a big space on the sponsors page on this blog. I'll give you free advertising on TheLocalTourist.com. I'm bringing a flag with me to the summit and will be offering space to donors, and you'll be guaranteed a spot on that flag. In addition, just think of all the karma points you'll rack up!

If you can help, please email me at tlc@thelocaltourist.com.

Thanks!!!!!
Theresa
