Five Tips to Put Your Best Face Forward This Fall
Awhile back, I featured Chicago's beauty girl Nicole Pearl and her
beauty bag must-haves for this fall. Nicole had some amazing recommendations for cleaning out your beauty bag or drawer and refilling it with the latest and greatest products to give you a fresh start this fall. With summer finally ending, I went in for a fall facial this week with
Cellular Intelligence Med Spa, and while most people would take that opportunity to relax and enjoy a treatment (aka in silence), I, of course, spent the entire time asking questions about the best ways to maintain a clear complexion and "summer glow" in the fall. Sure, I may have actually driven my amazing aesthetician Beth up a wall with all the "why" and "what's that" follow ups, but I walked away with a few great tips to share with you and my own fresh face to step into the next season.

"Start the exfoliation process now," says Cellular Intelligence Med Spa aesthetician Beth. You've spent months playing in the sun and even if you've been wearing SPF, you're skin has tanned; capillaries have broken; there's little spots of sun damage you may not even notice. But it's there. So start gently removing those layers of dead skin to start afresh.
Fall is the best time to receive a peel or laser treatment. In conjunction with the need to exfoliate, these treatments deeply penetrate the skin to remove sun damage. Plus, according to Beth, they are most effective when your skin is at its lightest tone; so say sianara to sun-soaked skin, start exfoliating and get prepped for a corrective, healing treatment.
Yes, you must continue to wear daily SPF in the winter. You're still outside, right? Well, maybe. This is Chicago after all. But even when you don't see the sun or think you're only darting from the apartment to a bus to your office, its rays will find you. Continually protect your skin with SPF, even in the fall/winter.
As the weather changes, so will your skin care routine, says Beth. You may see the skin become more dry and in turn you'll need to moisturize without causing breakouts. Find a solution that works for your skin to maintain balance, but be ready to change with the weather.
I know, you're probably thinking, "Enough already with the eye cream!" But, thanks to my incessant questioning, I found out that the best way to apply eye cream is by gently tapping it into the skin under and around the eyes. That skin is so delicate and thin that when you pull or rub it, it's literally tugging at the skin which over time can cause sagging. Especially in the winter months, keep it moisturized and soft. You'll thank me in 15 years!
