Mother's Day Yoga Guide

This Mother's Day, May 9, avoid the brunch crowds and busy spas and do something different with your mom! Take her to a yoga class or have fun shaking it with her at Yoga Booty Ballet. Here's a list of classes that are a great way to get your heart pumping (but won't send not-so-fit moms to the hospital), stretch your body and relief stress on her special day.
Bloom Yoga Studio: On Mother's Day, Kid-friendly Bloom Yoga Studio in Lincoln Square is having a special Mother's Day workshop from 1-2:30 p.m. This workshop is great for moms who get to plan their own mother's day, as the workshop is open for mother's and their sons/daughters from ages 10-18. No yoga experience is necessary, just come prepared to have a good time! $30 for two. Bend Yoga & Movement Studio: Bend Yoga Studio in Ukrainian Village has a Hatha for Beginner's class that's perfect for introducing mom to the joys of yoga. This all-levels class starts at 12pm.

Fleet Feet: If you've already got brunch or lunch plans, get to Fleet Feet's Lincoln Square location for a free community yoga class Sunday morning at 9 am. This all-levels class is great for sporty moms who love to run as well as those new to yoga. Fleet Feet provides mats, too.
Indigo Studio: Did you get your free spirit and dance moves from your mom? Then you'll both love shaking it during a Yoga Booty Ballet class at Indigo Studio. To celebrate Mother's Day, any two ladies that come together get a two-for-one deal and only pay one drop-in class fee ($16).
Infuse Yoga Spa: Infuse owner and instructor Andrea Klunder's Sunday afternoon yoga class (starts at 4 pm) will have a Mother's Day theme and feature chanting, meditation and aromatherapy. Plus, if you buy a Mother's Day gift card for someone special, you get 25% off. 
Lululemon Halsted: On Saturday, May 8, lululemon Halsted hosts a special free Mother's Day event from 8-10 am. CorePower Yoga instructors lead special yoga classes for moms and kids, Aveda provides chair massage, Vosges stops in with chocolate and prizes will be raffled off throughout the event. 
TruHarmony: If you and mom are up for breaking a serious sweat, Candlelight Yoga Basics at Tru Harmony in River North might be the class for you. This class, heated to 95 degrees, is ideal for beginners who'd like to explore hot yoga but aren't ready for a faster paced vinyasa or 105 degree bikram studio. Plus, first-time students get a free week. Yogaview: You'll have to get here a bit early to secure a spot, but the 12pm level 1-2 class at Yogaview Division is worth the effort. This donation-only class is a great way to end the weekend and instructor Ryan offers up poses that easily modify to suit various levels. A great class for moms that are newer to yoga or who've only been doing the same DVD forever and are ready to try something new. Also, Sunday is a big day for community (re: free) yoga classes!
